Personally, I'm afraid to go up there to Irving. Always some kind of crap going on.

when is society gonna grow up and start raising their children? When are people going to begin paying attention to society? If individuals became responsible, their offspring wouldn't learn that the only way to solve problems is with violence. If individuals had values, they'd pass those values along.
Are we suppsed to be surprised that violence was his recourse? Are there many OTHER recourses in this angry, gimme gimme gimme NO self-discipline NO commpassion world? If so, they are becoming less and less evident and more and more simply a matter of HA HA GUESS WHO I'M GONNA RIP OFF NEXT CUZ EVERY EVERY EVERY ONE IS OUT FOR NUMERO UNO GIMME GIMME GIMME YOU PUTZ, you people with morals, guess what? I have none.. so I'll take all I want... money, objects, lives... who cares?
mommy has to go to work now.. it's SOOO much more important that we have a ski trip this year than that anyone bothers to spend time teaching you about being a responsible HUMAN.

It's not just Irvine, hon. If you want to be safe I suggest you build yourself a shelter and stock it with what you'll need for the rest of your life, because there is no such thing as safe. And the more we pretend violence can be categorized by race, geography or any other superficial explanation, the more we prove we're ignoring the problem: NO ONE CARES ABOUT MORALITY, CHILDREN, HOMES, SECURITY or anything else that can't be bought, consumed in four minutes flat, and pooped out so the next thing can be glommed on. Let's teach our kids how gratification is ALL that anyone cares about. Why not?

For the last few years Irvine was on the top ten safest cities in the country. I'm 19 and for the past 5 years my 25 year old brother and I have gone to my 35 year old brother's house in Irvine. He used to live in Porter Ranch with me, and he worked for the FDA in Downtown, but when the company moved to Irvine he moved too. He's one of my two half brothers who has the same dad and different mom. He was born in Hollywood, but moved to Porter Ranch in 86 when he was 13 and transferred to Nobel Middle School. Anyway I feel perfectly safe when I go there and things like that rarely ever happen and when they do they are domestic most of the time.

Such childish responses...

I will acknowledge that the experiences some of you may have had in Irvine - or the things you may have read make you feel like Irvine is a horrible place to live, but many of you actually forget that you're in no position to judge an entire city.

I totally agree. The comments are a true reflection of the lack of education in our country. Mindless and adolescent.

Everyone needs to remember that the Police do not stop crimes they only investigate them. This was a very sad situation and innocent people were victimized along with their precious gift of life taken away. It is time for every person to be responsible! Wear your seat belt, have a cell phone, carry a spare tire, eat right, exercise, have a fire extinguisher. If the family would have had a firearm or maybe some other form of self defense this may have been avoided. The criminals will always commit crime and the innocent will always be victimized. We cannot rely on the government to bail us out of every situation and good people need to stand for what is right and act accordingly. My deepest sympathy goes to the family.
