I am considering buying land in Fairfield, TX and have a question for the post.

The view from Google Earth shows the entire area littered w/ gas drilling sites/compressors etc (in the 100s of sites). If I buy land in the area, I want to feel confident it will hold it's value if I sell 10yrs from now. But with 100s of drilling sites, I'm afraid that the surrounding areas will be plowed (surface mining) or cleared for drilling (even my property, w/o mineral rights).

So two questions for the group: 1) How do I research the locations of future drill/surface mining sites in the county and 2)Do you think Fairfield is a good place to invest (ie. land)....or will the drilling/clearing devalue land investment.

In other words...to buy or not to buy. Thanks!
