Thank You Sgt. Wilson:
They closed the courthouse, basically the whole town today, from 1 to 2pm. A young man in the marines from here was killed in the war. There were tons of people lining the county road waving U.S. flags. Police everywhere. Marines dressed in their finest. Giant motorcycle gang called the patriot guard road in first, making sure there were no war protesters, then the hearse and about 50 cars, then about 20 police cars and trucks. They had the fire truck with the ladder raised and hanging from it was a ginormous flag. Awesome. The crowd was eerily silent. No talking. Little kids had their hands over their hearts. Military and ex military stood up straight at attention and saluted. Several of the big bad bikers were weaping after they saw all this support for our fallen hero. Today, in the town of Centerville, Texas, I saw the America we love. It is beautiful. I am thankful for Sgt. Wade Daniel Wilson and the freedom I have because of him and his willingness to die to provide it. I am amazed at the difference between hearing on the news that more service men were killed in the war VS. seeing the service man's hometown show their love and support. Sometimes I am extra proud to be an American, and some days I am proud of my fellow Americans. Today was one of those days.
