Ms. Downton's memoir of failed relationship and lasting bitterness do little justice as a context for a eulogy for the great Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a man admired by several Nobel laureates and other prestigious thinkers worldwide.
Her mocking attempts to belittle and dismiss Maharishi, based purely upon retailing her youthful caprice, smacks of its sustained presence, and her claim to have "met" or "known" Maharishi is thinly-veiled, post-mortum opportunism revealing unwillingness or else incompetence at soild reportage.
Would that true journalism could be revived, and that mere sarcastic and cynical personal correspondence be relegated to publishers of that ilk, instead of its being thrust before the public, passed off as an obituary.
