The bogus names with bogus emails will not post. You have to respond to the confirmation email. So all that work using your two brain cells was for naught. Can you say STUPID? LOL

The GOMERs do not need a petition or voices on Tuesday. The FAB FOUR have their minds made up already, but they will cite "citizens", "taxpayers", "community", and "residents" to describe a small vocal group. Vallejo at large will get nothing, a few will get their way. Showing up and voicing is a waste of time either way. Viewers at home will see Vallejo take a giant step backward Tuesday evening among applause and cheering, just like on the bankruptcy vote. I don't know what kind of contract Dan Keen has, but he will see his experience means nothing to this angry mob. Will he hold out until a possible council shift back to sanity in 2013?

Poster #24, I maintain that you have the right to speak your mind, but....

I object to your assertion that showing up and giving an opinion about this issue is a waste of time and represents simply amusement to those who prefer the anonymity of a blog from the comfort of their 4 walls to actually waddling down to City Hall and speaking before those you know have already made up their mind about this.

Granted, they may have, but it is our duty to let them know that some do not agree with their decision and we will remember that stance the next time they are asking to represent us!

I do not know you, however it must be people like you who most of the time do not contribute to meaningful idea exchange about an issue that they should take seriously, as a resident as well as a taxpayer, no matter which way you are leaning. This stance is anything but amusing, but pathetic. Reminds me of the following:

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

ma'am, with all due respect, you just contradicted yourself in the last sentence. i agree that the decision has been made not to support the amendment and that all the hoot and hollering in the world will not change it. these people are enjoying the fruit of apathy among the voting public in this town. we can see nothing at all is happening, despite assurances from the field of politicians in '09 and '11 that they will move our town forward. i just want something big to get going, not waste more time with more studies, etc. i would have liked touro or the movies and triad to do something, but nothing at all happens in this town, we can all see that. nothing. my guess is when they reject callahan, and possibly a big federal project, we are going to hire another consultant to develop a contemporary vision and then it will stall like everything else.

I did not vote for any of the Fab Four, therefore it IS a waste of my time to waddle down there and have Gomes shuffle papers or gab with Brown as I speak.

Oh yes we do need the petition, it could be the start of a new wave of civic awareness and participation that will turn this city around. There may be others out there who are just waiting for something like this to happen and the next thing you know the whole town is in full support of ideas and proposals that benefit the people, not the politicians and their cronies.

A good idea should be nurtured and allowed to grow into a tree of unity and participation. Let' do it for the sake of our beloved Vallejo.

I'm with you and the others all the way on the issue of taking our city back and becoming a visible and outspoken supporter of matters that concern the safety, welfare and well being of our town. We are the city, we own the property and we have all the right to be heard and the right to be accorded the privilege of taking stand on any matter of concern. Keep it up!

Hint: same reason people simply do not just buy used cars. Buy a 67' GTO rather than a new VW bug?

The petition is worthless. Many of the names are fabrications. Why didn't they start a real petition? Who knows, but this bogus online petition is a joke. Look at some of the names, there is even a clown on it, and a drunk, etc.

Negativism will not move things forward, if a real petition will produce the desired result then by all means do us the honor of following through with your worthwhile idea. Action speaks louder than words, it's never too late to do the right thing.

I would not sign a real one, but I did post several bullshid names to the online one, it's worthless. My position is that the Fab Four will reject the resolution to amend the plan, so why even waste time with a toy petition? Have they no faith that the FF will "do the right thing"?

In my case, I'd prefer both the electors and the electees on the same wavelength so there's no doubt about the outcome of their decision. That petition will let City Hall know how we feel out the issue and I hope they listen to their constituents.

the online petition is worthless, there is no way to verify the people on it are residents, voters, taxpayers, whatever. "clarence cocksword"? a bunch of "anonymous". get serious here. i hope nobody presents that as a bonafide petition.

Of course it is not an official document, but it should let those that do make decisions in our name realize that the peasants are watching and objecting to the status quo. That is all.

If we do not speak out and communicate our wishes, may it be for or against, our leadership will believe their opinion on any issue is correct as presented. We, the residents have to live with their decisions and as is evident they were not always the correct ones.

I agree, past efforts to participate were not always appreciated nor successful, but we will never know if we do not continue and demand to be heard in a respectful way.

I did vote for Mr. McConnell, and am proud to say for nobody else presently on council, that does not mean I will sabotage anything the others I did not give my vote to have to say and bring forth.

I respectfully disagree that the opinion of a citizen/resident is useless and to make an effort to be heard, a waste of time.

I may have an eclectic taste in who I believe could represent me and my values, but I would be mad as hell were the privilege and ability given to me through citizenship to do exactly that be taken away.

I may not make sense to many, but do not throw away the ability to participate in a process due to disinterest or false assumptions. Once we lose the ability to be heard we have lost the freedom to participate in shaping our future.

or somebody would have left a comment about where to sign up. the vote will be 4-2 with davis recusing. the petition and voicing will be theatrics from the usual people. i see they are attacking ursula now as clueless. i wouldn't be surprised if keen cashes out and goes to work in rio vista, tanner just went on disability leave after only two weeks on the job.
