Citizens begin online petition opposing Callahan waterfront plan:

We, the residents of Vallejo, oppose the revisions to the Waterfront Master Plan proposed by the Callahan Group.

We believe that the proposed changes from owner occupied homes and commercial facilities (originally designed to support the Vallejo Ferry and link the downtown to the waterfront through pedestrian oriented promenades) to high density apartments and offices are not exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). CEQA requires state and local agencies within California to follow a protocol of analysis and public disclosure of environmental impacts of proposed projects and adopt all feasible measures to mitigate those impacts.

Hey Callahan, lookie here... IKEA (private company) can do better than you. Seems they are working it in Hamburg, Germany to develop 5 acres of their downtown -- "The new district will have shops, apartments and office space for thousands of people." Maybe COV Staff should phone up IKEA for a competitive bid to do the same for our downtown, and probably cheaper, too. Imagine that, IKEA now a developer.

They are getting desperate to represent that the fate of the vet's memorial is to be "paved over". Several good ideas about where to move it and how to present it to broader public viewing, and protect it against vandals, have been made on another thread.

Our plan is to sign this petition numerous times using the names of deceased Vallejo residents.

This is exactly what I have always said:

#1)
If you truly believe that an issue has to be addressed because ..... and there is support from within the community willing to openly and clearly get involved, voice your opinion with conviction and document it in an organized way.

VS.

#2)
Pro or con sometimes nasty comments about an issue proclaimed under the cloak of anonymity and posted to a website without teeth.

Which one of the two will be recognized as official opposition to a proposed plan and possibly may be considered as valid and that the People have spoken, not saying any change to the disputed actions will be made?

My bet is on Number 1.

If you truly believe the Amendment to this plan as before us is OK and should be fast tracked as is, start a petition in opposition to the one already started. Otherwise well, we all know what usually is said ......

I am 100% against the Callahan office building plan. Furthermore, voters must know where Hannigan and Intintoli stand on this issue. Neither one of them should be elected if they support this rape of our waterfront.

"We, the residents of Vallejo," the petition begins. The petition is sponsored by the Saint Vincent's hill group, not "the residents", a term used far too generously by opposition groups to suggest they have broad support, they don't. It's the crybabies that do not want "their" view impacted.
"Activist Joe" Mikelson, you are a phony in my book when you cite this red herring concern for the vets memorial.
"paves over the existing veterans memorial"
Two complete exaggerations of truth.

BS petition. They won't need it anyway, this deal will not fly. Staff, forget about it, take your pay and lay up until the GOMER's tell you what to do. Don't subject yourselves to wild cheering as they reject your work.

wow! there's 103 signatures as of just now. some of them look like dupes or fakes. they don't need it anyway, there are four votes against it. the irony will be later when the "mystery tenant" announces where the project will be and that community will welcome it.

hahahaha! You are such a Schleprock. Don't you claim everytime you take a ride on your Psycho Train of Light carrying your Hammer of Truth whatever, that everyone in Vallejo supports your silly vendetta?

Then the Hammer Truth does a 180 and knocks your loco a$$ into the CABOOSE OF REALITY of another failure and embarrasment. I bet their petition gets more valid signatures than your Epic Failed Recall petitions did, all 5 or 6 attempts, so quit whining...

"I bet their petition gets more valid signatures..." and just how will valid be determined? a total bullshid document that can be signed several times with different names, and there are some dupes on it as well.
