Register. Vote. Share the links. Change the world.
As a Christian who takes seriously Jesus command to do unto others what I would have them do unto me, I know that if my child were using marijuana, I would want to work with him or her as a parent rather than seeing him or her with a criminal record, in jail with the sexual predators, lose their college financial aid, and all of the very real harm that would be caused, not by the marijuana, but by the law. I would hate for that to happen to any child, teenager, or college student, but it does, every day. Every single day. It is the law.
Likewise, if my aging parents were to try a little marijuana to ease the aches and pains of growing older, I would not want to see the police confiscate their home and sell it under the property forfeiture laws. I would hate for that to happen to any aging parent, but it does. It is the law.
All the arguments for keeping marijuana illegal boil down to “it is better to put people in jail than to let ordinary Americans grow a little marijuana in their own back yards.”
The key to putting an end to this mess: Register to vote. Just google your state name and the phrase “voter registration”. You have to register well in advance of election day; it only takes five minutes (even if you have to download a form and take it downtown, it is well worth the effort). All of these links use the usual h t t p :// w w w prefix:
California:
sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm or to vote by mail
sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_m.htm
Vermont
vermont-elections.org/elections1/registertovo...
South Dakota:
sdsos.gov/electionsvoteregistration/registrat...
Arizona:
Voter info:
azsos.gov/election/VoterInformation.htm
Register: azsos.gov/election/voterregistration.htm
Michigan: michigan.gov/documents/MIVoterRegistration_97...
Oregon: oregonvotes.org/votreg/vreg.htm
Others: Google your state name and “voter registration.”

College students: You can usually register as a citizen of either your hometown or your college residence town. Share the voter registration info through your student newspaper, twitter, etc.
Everybody: Most states allow early voting and/or vote-by-mail, so once you get registered, go ahead and request a ballot (at the voter info site for your state). Save a trip to the polls and get it done the easy way.
5 minutes. Change the world. Share the links.

So they devote a whole task force to stop 3 people who probably didn't hurt anyone? Awesome use of resources. Meanwhile, robbery and other violent crime prevail. Way to get your priorities right FPD.

On what grounds did they raid? It's not clear why they threw so many resources into a dispensary raid.

What a waste of taxpayer's money, not to mention a violation of California state law. If these police have nothing better to do, perhaps they are overstaffed?

1990's 33 murders in Vallejo over Marijuana sales. 2007-2010 numerous medical marijuana dispensaries and grower suffered armed robberies and home invasions through out our region. The argument that marijuana doesn't effect crime is ridiculous. It is harmless until the kill one of you family members while robbing one of these facilities. Get rid of this crap from society.

Pete "Get rid of this crap from society"

OK. If you want that, I think it's fair to say that criminalization has not succeeded. A sensible person tries a solution but also admits when a solution has not worked. And criminalizing marijuana use has not worked anymore than criminalizing alcohol got rid of alcohol use.

Educate, preach, tell people you think they should not use it. But admit that criminalizing it has not stopped its use -- not in 80 years -- but it has jailed uncountable people who are otherwise law-abiding, wasted law enforcements' time, and cost taxpayers ridiculous amounts of money thrown down the drain.

Nancy, according to that article:
"...fueled by a sharp increase in marijuana use and a surge in ecstasy and methamphetamine abuse, the government reported Wednesday."
Obviously, this raid has absolutely nothing to do with ecstasy or methamphetamine. Will have no effect, at all, of stopping those problems.
As for a rise in marijuana use? It just illustrates that attempts to criminalize use do not work. Never have. Not for all the decades it's been tried. It just creates more expense for the taxpayer, while gaining nothing.
Time to try something else. Only a fool keeps running into a brick wall over and over, then wonders why his head hurts.

Absolute blatant disregard for the rights of the people. A common occurrence when it comes to Solano County California

how can a plant be illegal? in its natural form? Marijuana isnt cocaine, you can't overdose on marijuana. Amanita Muscaria (super mario) mushrooms are completely legal to posess, and if you eat one you will die. Alcohol is completely legal, if you drink to much, you get stomach poisoning and die. Nicotine is as addictive as heroin, and causes cancer, and is completely legal. WTH is wrong with that picture? Everything. Do you see what our government is trying to do?

Let's see..we have people robbed at gun point, perverts running around, innocent people getting shot and killed. people's houses being burglarized. and were spending a huge mantime hours and probably overtime for weed..this is solano county people. sometimes I wonder where do they get these people to work for law enforcement to make these stupid decisions, next time they want to lay off cops I will be for it, because it looks like we do better without some of them.....I think they should look at thier priorities a little more...what a waste of tax payers money...

Hey Jim, get your facts straight! Why 'throw them in jail for a long time'? It's the mindset that most have, including you Jim, is why folks are in a hurry to say 'put em away'. What do you know about medical cannabis? Better to educate yourself, than to close your mind. There are drinkers, tweekers, junkies, and pill poppers...In my experiences, marijuana smokers are not even in this class. Alcohol is a far more damaging drug than most. Just because it(alcohol) is "socially acceptable" does not make it any 'better'. There are far more drunk drivers, that are responsible for taking lives than that of marijuana users. Further, what a 'waste' of taxpayers money to arrest 3 people for some BS charges. Police should be going after crimes such as burglary, arson, murder and rapes. I could go Jim, just keep an open mind.

I'll bet you are a drinker. What about the lives alcohol takes in many forms. Get educated.

It's natural form? Buds and purple cush and all that stuff is not natural form, you have to clone and harvest weed to be smokable and then process it.. Are you truly that stupid, smoke another bowl brah....

It ins't the users most people have issues with! It is the non tax paying growers of Northern Cali making bookoo bucks, having large gardens, armed, and people being killed over the growth, production and sales of the drug. See if you paid attention to the debate you would see that this isn't about medical MJ or it's effects on certain patients. I often wonder how you people survive daily being so ignorant and such...

Alcohol is a valid comparison. Society accepts one but not the other, when it is totally illogical to do so. Alcohol underwent Prohibition and it was a miserable failure; marijuana is under Prohibition and it is a miserable failure.
