Reminds me of a former co-worker of my wife who worked in Napa. Her husband became unemployed (2 kids) and they had financial difficulties as would be expected. After a couple months her "pastor" sat them down to talk to them about not tithing appropriately.<quoted text>Depends on the denomination. While several of the mainline churches - Methodist, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Episcopalian and Presbyterian will usually give you a pass for not making contributions, many of the more fundamentalist churches, which insist on the biblical law of the tithe, will force one to decide between feeding & clothing the family or tithing to the church. There is only one right answer in the mind of these churches.
I was thoroughly disgusted with this. How about the pastor asking the congregation if anyone can help in any way.
