A colorful future

Full story: Vallejo Times-Herald

Gregg Valley has a lot of purses. Not, perhaps, more than a wife of five years would have.

Gregg, you should paint the Arsenal underpass - it gets plenty of traffic and could certainly use some bright colors (not to mention grafitti deterent)!

Actually, I'm a huge fan of tagging, when it's done well, but we don't seem to attract the type of talent that you see in SF or Oakland, so we may have to invite someone (or some people) to come do it up right, be they tag artists or mural artists.

I have seen tags that resemble art, but not in Vallejo. Maybe there is some around but I haven't seen it. The crap around vallejo looks like a 3 year old did it. Just got a visual - remeber colors, when Pac Man spray painted that gang bangers face for tagging? Is that wrong? I guess it depends if it is your house or business they are tagging.

The city of Quebec in Canada encourages the young citizens to paint the Freeway support structures. They have to present a design plan for the art work but there were tags and mural work done by the crowd that would have been considered "Graffiti taggers" in other areas.

The only limits were no obscenity or racially demeaning language allowed.

It is amazing up there.

Chrissy, there has been a lot of crime in Montreal and Quebec. It is not much different than the US. And there have been a lot of gang activity up there as well (I guess you can even use slang in French).

But the city officials wanted to cover up the gang graffiti and allowed taggers and other artists to submit plans/drawings to do so. And then allowed them to place their art on the buttresses. And when I went through I did not see any graffiti sprayed over the tops of these pieces. There was graffiti elsewhere, but not to the same degree as here.

I WOULD VENTURE TO SAY THAT THE RATE OF VIOLENT CRIMES IN CANADA ARE NOWHERE NEAR THE US LEVEL, ESPECIALLY THOSE INVOLVING HAND GUNS.....AND I UNDERSTAND THE ARTISTS RESPECT FOR ART...EVEN TAGGERS HAVE THINGS THEY RESPECT.....HAVE A NICE DAY MARRIED....I CANT WAIT TO VOTE :)

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Aries

The prospect of travel really appeals to you today, especially if you don't have any holidays booked for the foreseeable future. So be careful if you're out shopping and you happen to walk past a travel agent's, because almost before you know it you could be sitting in there waving your credit card around and consulting your diary for the best day to take off for the wide blue yonder.
