Check Point Charlie at Travis Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue tonight. Right by the mall. What's the goal FFPD? 15 impounded vehicles, 25 minor citations, DUI's?

Lets match up the names with the violations this time. It helps give the 'bigger' picture of what is actually going on! Get our drift?

They're being ticketed and towed away as we speak.

Max has no problem with drunk drivers possibly maiming or killing himself, trophy wife, or kidlets. Hmmm.

Granny, when you drink your Two Buck Chuck, stay home, don't drive. Thanks.

DUI check points have nothing to do with catching drunk drivers. DUI check points are all about finding an excuse to stop every Tom, Dick, and Harry to find a way to write them up for a minor citation, or better yet, impound the vehicle. It's all about fee generation and money to both the county and the city, ultimately the FFPD. Cha-Ching!

If catching drunk drivers is the goal, patrolling the streets of FF would do more good.

While patrolling, maybe the FFPD can catch the 14ers that have been tagging one of my buildings.

Dude, pull your pants up and stop trying to whizzz on me!!! Yours isn't the ONLY opinion out there.

I don't drink.

This isn't really about YOU!

The point is that these stops are reminders to the public, are necessary, and they do patrol the city streets.

Put up cameras.

Maximus, I am new to the community and Topix, and I must say I find your response to Ms. Crosswalk's post quite unreasonable and, might I say, abusive.

Ms. Crosswalk made an excellent, yet succinct point.

However, I do wish to discuss your obvious hostility to the police department of our county seat.

Why are you so offended that this agency is conducting a "check point?" Why are you vehemently critical of this method of apprehending drunken drivers, and at the same time citing drivers who do not hold valid licenses, etc.

Also, please explain your objection to the agency generating funds from this project. Aren't any sources of funding important given the condition of our economy?

May I venture to suggest that you, Maximus, have had an unpleasant and costly encounter with a law enforcement agency at one of these "check points?"

Thank you.

Refer to post #5 for most of your answers.

I have encountered VPD at a Check Point Charlie and was detained for an hour for nothing. They wanted to search my car. I told them to do their job and get a search warrant. They detained me for an hour then decided since I was familiar with my 4th amendment rights, they let me go.

I've seen people getting pulled over just for driving while black too.

Welcome to Topix though. Now go do a hard workout, shower, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Never mind Granny, she has constipation problems and gets cranky at times.

You can't fight with someone that doesn't what they are talking about. Granny is clueless on gangs, taggers, 13ers, 14ers, or anything not related to her comfortable little world she lives in.

Cranky? You do project a lot; there again that 12 step program would help you. I am not clueless to taggers and the meanings of Nortenos, and Surenos. I LIVED IN LA, during the 70s where the badasses were getting started. In fact the MS13 (Mara Salvatrucha) is in the tiniest of towns, OR WANNABES.

Law enforcement runs in the family.

Randall,

Thank you. The women get beat up quite a bit on these threads and I can usually hold my own. Max is oversensitive and often misses the humor in my posts. Thank you for your valid points and support.
