Are you dense? You're conflating two separate issues. My East Vallejo neighbor said it correctly; eliminating the contractual requirement for a minimum staffing level saved budget dollars. The question of how this affects safety is another issue.

Silas, why were you in favor of reducing the FD truck staffing from 4 to 3? That was an issue prior to bk

that was one of the issues at the core of the binding arb removal. jd miller and others screamed to high heaven that reducing truck staffing would be o.k.
sheriff joe tanner got it packed by the mediator, so they went after binding arb. they are all over the place in ideology, it changes with the seasons, but not the outright hate for unions.

The savings was two part - removing minimum staff level of 145 to allow them to keep the force at 114, and then the reduction in salaries by 18% gave a total savings of $6 Million for 2008-09 and 2009-10.
As for arrogance? Hardly. I think you've posted some of the most arrogant posts aside from Sammy.
Unsympathetic to taxpayers? No. I've been paying property taxes here for 24 years. The people who were unsympathetic to us was the 2000 council that approved a retroactive pension calculation that paid employees again for work already performed. That council should have made the 3@50 change only on future work, not past work.
As for your personal attacks? I guess if that is all you can do, go ahead. It's obvious that you and your kind can't disagree with who got us into this mess, and can only focus on the raise, and not the total contract.

Reduction in staff is also a reduction in service...which means there is no savings for no service. Simple concept. The pension issue has somewhat been addressed by the Governor requiring new hires in State Government pay half the pension costs. the decision as I recall to award 3 percent at 50 retroactively was done after 911 attacks and a group of shameless public union lobbyists used the deaths of Police and Fireman in the 911 attack as a baseball bat to convince councils all over the California to vote to give retroactive benefits to Police and Fireman. How sad is it when a group uses deaths of their members to line their own pockets. Absolutely shameless exhibition.

Oh I see, if you are not a cop or fireman you are weak? I know many welders, longshoreman, Doctors, and other professionals that would love to hear you utter those words from somewhere in their vicinity instead of masturbating behind a computer screen. Keep talking and let your ignorance shine through.

the same can be said for intintoli, who will spike his pension with one term at 94k. you want to give him a bigger pension? do you think he deserves it? this town is nuts!

Wendy, By your own example, you are one of the most ignorant so called VIB "strong women" out there.
You don't even know Erin Hannigan or you wouldn't be saying that about her. You are just a VIB puppet who repeats what they hear. Get a brain and get a life.

And how could you possibly know what others "hear"? Wishful thinking from a union apologist.
