Oh, the fun I could have had with that Costco money!
Congrats to all the winners, and to the children who get their very own dictionary!

"Oh, the fun I could have had with that Costco money!" I thought it was kind of funny that fifth place (the Costco giftcard) had a better prize than fourth place (the Victory Stores gift cert). No offense to Victory Stores - I just thought the Costco prize was more "practical," personally...

@dave1021 - totally agree on both posts.

there is nothing sacred.

Congrats to all the winners especially the children.

OT - one thing I noticed during the parade was an absence of a bookstore. Does Vallejo really not have a bookstore? A lot of other businesses were there representing themselves (kudos to them)- but seriously: all those children in Vallejo and not so much as a comic book store?! Really?

I am dissapointed with the Times Herald not posting pictures and the winners of the 4th of July parade in the paper. I am borrowing a computer from a friend trying to find anything and have found nothing. My son was in the parade, and it would
be nice to see if his picture was taken. I also think with all the negative stories in the paper about our city, the parade would have shown that we have some positive things happening.
Also, our paper is becoming very thin. What is up with this?

Whew! Keeping crap going in Vallejo is hard work!!! Staying on the threads 24/7 and stalking city council members when I get a chance leaves me with very little time to have a personal life. Who am I kidding! I don't have a personal life.

To run a successful city, you have to have everyone
working together. Gomes is not working with everyone.
She is on her own agenda. An agenda that is not for
Vallejo. She is self serving and destructive for Vallejo.
What will Gomes destroy next?
Since Gomes has been in office, Vallejo is bankrupt, Vallejo
is ghetto with high crime, Vallejo has too much section 8, she caters to very low income and ignores hard working families and people.

Vallejo has the fewest police in the history of Vallejo. Police officers are leaving for better stable cities. Vallejo has closed three fire stations.

Businesses have been leaving Vallejo. Good businesses have turned down coming to Vallejo. Several multi million dollar projects and business opportunities have declined Vallejo. Most recently, a group of citizens that support Gomes have filed a law suit against the city of Vallejo that will now cost the city of Vallejo more money to defend. Money the city does not have, but this group, supported by Gomes does not care about Vallejo. They only care about spending millions of tax dollars to “punish” public safety and destroy the city even more.

Since Gomes has been in office, Vallejo continues to sink to its deepest depths. If you ask Gomes how Vallejo is doing, she will tell you,“The City of Vallejo is the cutting edge” for all other cities to follow. We are all wondering if Gomes is even paying attention.
