Do you think Christ had that in mind when He said:

"And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these."

What in Hell does love have to do with marriage anyway? They really aren't synonymous.

Love of the type that can only happen between two heterosexuals is not nasty at all. Other arrangements are based on sex or lust, not love.

And yes, I am bowing out of this thread and removing it from my tracker. I drew the line in the sand and now am leaving. Goodbye.

Religion has nothing to do with law? Really?

Explain:
Law 10 Commandments Circa 1440 B.C.
Murder is a felony ~ Thou shalt not kill.
Adultery is grounds for divorce ~ Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Theft is a felony ~ Thou shalt not steal.
Perjury is a felony ~ Thous shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor.

What has you being careless to do with the subject and where does an ancient Egyptian deity fit into the scheme of things?

If you're going to rail at someone, at least try to be sensible about it.

Another example of liberal values (or lack thereof) being forced upon Christian, conservative Americans. How ironic that we are discussing the 'rights' of a relatively small percentage of the population and yet, a large number of Americans do not support gay marriage. As a consequence of this position those who oppose it are demonized and labeled as bigots, homophobes and "ignorant". So much for the 'right' to disagree I guess.
And before we get any further, lets get this out of the way...God does not condemn homosexuals. He does however condemn the ACT of homosexuality.

Hitler was noted for raising the Iron Cross.

Obama accepted the Iron Cross.

Guess that makes him the incarnation of Adolph Hitler.

Why is it that you liberals can't disagree without being disagreeable?

Do you really think insults, vulgar and demeaning accusations are going to sway others to your point of view?

Or, is it simply that you've spent your lives in the sewers of the anything goes philosophy that you know no other way of relating to others?

You're an embarrassment to civil people everywhere.

Marriage is for normal couples. One man one woman. As far as the fruits go, they should bring back the "crime against nature" laws.

The gentleman referred to in the article made the statement, "I suppose same-sex couples have every right to be as miserable as the rest of us, so why shouldn't they be allowed to get married?" It always astounds me that people would say this, thus admitting that they are unhappy in their own marriage. My spouse and I have not experienced that, even after 40 years of being together. How sad and disappointing it is to find that such people have made such unhappy choices in their lives. I wonder how his wife feels knowing what he said. Such a warm and cuddly husband he must be.

The sheer absurdity of the liberal left is on clear display here. Little in the way of substance but, plenty of hyperbole and personal attacks.
Tell me who is the more bigoted here...the person who disagrees based on a very personal religious belief or the one who lashes out with vile, hate-filled insults?

Simple, the person who directly harms countless other people by trying to enforce that belief and encode it into law.

You may have any religious belief you choose, but it you try to encode such a thing into laws that harm me, my family, or a thousand other families you have never met, then, YES, you are a bigot.

However sincere you may be, or how strongly you may believe you are right..
