you gotta live with the changes that the schools make. When I attend high school in the 70's...I went to Marshall High School for 9th and 10th grades...then moved to Falls Church High School for 11th and 12th grades. Really messed me up because I was on the track team and hated the move to another school.

Bull craaaaaaaaaaaaap
South Lakes is exactly what it is GROSS!
Teachers would rather expell, students would rather rap and roll instead of attending classes.
A waste of MY TAXES that end of Reston is a slum anyway

Students attending Langley and McLean high schools needed to have been included in this to make it legal.
Wide open for class action lawsuit.
Just how stupid does FFX County think the parents from the other schools are - that we didn't note Langley and McLean's exclusion and most of Madison's exclusion.
Have you checked the average income of areas included in final decision?
Those going to South Lakes demand all AP classe; or pupil placement to school that has AP. Why does FFX COunty not want to reveal total number of students being pupil placed to other schools because South Lakes only has IB program? Another violation of state Sunshine Law.
Despite big rahrah about IB program, colleges are giving credit for the courses unlike AP.

Demand AP classes from South Lakes or get pupil placed out!

The folks in DC need to be as demanding and serious about their schools. Maybe their schools would be better.

Those rich white folk don't want their kids going to South lakes with the poor hispanics and blacks...How dare the FXCO school system try to stick those rich white kids in that school where they have no desire to be....HUM?????

Here's an idea, get rid of South Lakes High School and divy up those students (half of those students don't care anyway) to the other schools. Much cheaper for FFX County all around.

I'm glad I live in Prince Willliam County.

I am a father of 2 students at Southlake’s High School. In my four year experience I have never seen or heard anything negative in regards to the demographic makeup of the school, all schools contain bad elements and good elements. As for academics, my sons teachers are very dedicated to seeing all their students succeed and go on to higher education or become well prepared for daily life.

Please stop making this school sound like a decrepit inner city school. It has become an ultra modern state of the art facility, one of the best I have seen in Fairfax County. I currently live in Herndon and would not want my sons to attend that high school over South Lakes. The Administrators, Teachers, Students and Parents are what make a school. I am saddened to here such negative comments from people who live in one of the most affluent and highly educated counties in the country. These people imply that Restonites are beneath them-they may want to research statistics on the percentage of college grads, Masters, PhD Dr. and Juris-doctorate degrees that live in the South Lakes Community.

Furthermore Look at Income/home values, come on people.

The fact that Fairfax County Schools are paid for by all residents-I have no say over programs that are at other schools and not South Lakes, why should we be short changed. My money goes out to every corner too benefit all students. If you want a better system switch to individual municipality run such as Massachusetts, then your kids can go to the schools in your town or city. Not this crazy system of attending elementary and middle school in on neighborhood and then be bussed of to a much further High School.

Any way PLEASE stop slamming South Lakes-many average, above average, National Honor Society and IB students excel there.

I'll tell you what white folks think. It is in a poor area where low class hispanics and blacks live and will attend the school, thus lowering the standards of the school, thus hampering the chances of their kids getting into fine universities...."white ball"at its finest!!!

It is obvious that you don't know anything about "white ball". They want the best for their kids and when that is threatened they will go to extremes to protect that. Just watch. They don't want their kids to mingle with too many hispanics and blacks....

its gonna happen...so those parents need to just get over it! Who knows the kid may make friends and help other kids who are lacking improve on their studies. Childrens relationships may prove to last longer than some adult ones

I am a bus driver for Fairfax county and can tell you that it really doesn't matter as much what school these kids go to as it DOES matter hoe they are supported either at home or at school! You people have to understand that these INNOCENT children learn by example! I have seen alot of "minority" children came a long way in the school system. Get over yourselves and think of the kids NOT your property values!!!!

All of a childs lessons begin at home. If you people can't get along and support this transition, then how are we going to keep peace in the world? To those of you that are guilty, alot of students that are NOT minorities are causing just as much trouble in the schools!!! Does anyone here about these situations? NO, because mommy and daddy have it swept under the rug. I did not becaome a schoolbus driver to make alot of money(believe me), I became one to transport these children with SO MUCH potential to and from school safely!!!!! Now can we all get along and play nice??? If not mom used to put you on a time out, do some of you need one?

Oakton and Westfield are not overcrowded. However, schools to the east - Langley HS and Madison HS - are overcrowded, but were left out of the study. They have higher percentages of white students and lower percentages of free and reduced lunch than Oakton and Westfield. So why were they left off the boundary study? Political reasons, per chance? Langley, Madison, Herndon and Oakton all share a border with SLHS. Why are Westfield students being targeted?

Dont know where you got your stats but Westfield is at 3,200 plus, about 400 over capacity. That is more than my graduating class when I attended a Fairfax Co high school. get your facts straight.
