I don't understand how Artie's banning legally armed citizens is "for the kids."

This entire issue is crap.

Legally armed citizens pose NO THREAT to anyone, there are too many citizens carrying in too many states for anyone to pretend that they create any problems whatsoever.

And besides, who is going to protect those kids in the event a REAL criminal arrives? Your waitress? And does Artie's provide escorts to and from your vehicle?

And if the negative reaction of other patrons is a valid reason to restrict rights, then let's go back to the 50s.

Some folks in this country have not progressed beyond that point in our history, they've just changed the target of their irrational bigotry.

I wish I lived in Virginia. The SORRY state of MARYLAND sucks. I use to have a permit in florida and one in virginia up to a few yaers ago, now i live in maryland ....and guess what, you can't get a permit to carry. I feel that the counrty should go to a one license rule, that is if you are issued a license to carry , you can legally carry in any state, because right now tje laws vary so much from state to state and from county to county, you can't keep up with it. I'm sure i was probably illegal to carry in a few counties of virginia , even if when i had my carry permit. something needs to be done, i have no problem with carrying my gun in plain view !!!!!!

Too many people today have this false illusion that everything is great and that nothing will happen to me or my family or that if anything ever goes wrong, I will just call the police. Hello, wake up call, Law Enforcement cannot always get there in time. I carry a gun legally because I cannot carry a cop. I have gone, as well as many others have, through many hours on the range as well as official training with licensed trainers on the proper handling of a weapon. People need to realize that the only real defense is a well armed society. Also keep in mind, it's not the licensed ones that are committing the crimes and that it's not the guns killing people out there, it's the bad guys killing people.

Wake up. A gun is a false sense of protection. Point it at a criminal and your dead.

Not if you know what your doing. You may be dead if you point it at a crook. I will not be because when I point I will shoot. People that carry one for a bluff may die but not those trained to use it.

Sorry James, I don't see your sense of commitment in your statement. What are you going to do, "Oh, stop or I will shoot." NO! If someone is coming at me or mine with the intent to harm and I pull, guess what, I am dropping him.
I will also sleep much better that night because I know that one less BG is on the street.

I agree and perhaps the word "buried" could more accurately be substituted for "carried".

...Not my gun, when I draw my weapon I start the pull of the trigger and if is fired into the center on mass of the threat... I practice frequently, and I am way better than Good!

A property owner should be able to demand that all weapons be turned in, at the door.

I took my machete, in its scabbard, to the restaurant at the Willard, last fall. I assumed that the manager would want me to hand it over, so I asked to see him and gave it to him. Perfectly fine, perfectly acceptable.

Yes, he could have let me into the dining room with it. Yes, he could have demanded it. Either way would have been fine, with me. Property rights, on private property, trump my right to carry. But when they take my weapon (or accept my weapon), they take or accept the responsibility for holding off any criminal assault for long enough that my weapon can be returned.

I don't get it. I saw a number of people carrying guns this weekend in Reston. It horrified me. Why do the streets of my town need to look like the streets of Baghdad?

I just can't see how carrying a gun improves anything. Its a step backwards.

SO, only law enforcement is trust worthy enough to carry a gun in a restaurant? That is just funny--that is a joke.

I would sooner trust a citizen with a gun than a police officer with one...

I don't see it as a step backwards, how can that be. You have to understand...criminals look for a EASY target....If the criminal comes upon a person that has a gun visible, that criminal is not going to doing anything in that area. criminals are COWARDS and pray on the WEAK. When i lived in alexandra, I had a permit to carry, and I CARRIED everyday. I never had to pull my gun for protection, but I had it on me to defuse anything that might have happened around me. I 'm not saying let everyone carry a gun, You most have a qualification program set up to show that you know how to use and when to use a gun. But don't take away MY RIGHT to bear arms and protect myself. I know live in maryland and it SUCKS, I can't carry my guns on me whether it be in the open or concealed, which is BULLSH**. We need to have the right to carry in any state in the united states.
