Between 10-20 years ago a little girl whom was 6 years old was kidnapped from a christmas party in Lorton. I believe her name was melissa brennan. If that isnt her name, and there is something else about this that i need to know. Let me know.

Yes, I think that was her name, and the man arrested was Caleb... trying to remember his last name because I wanted to know what became of his son, who was about 3 at the time of his father's arrest. They used to be my neighbors.

THe case was shown in one episode of Forensic Files, I cannot recall the name of the killer. Hope it helps

I just saw the show. There is info on the web as well. The episode of Forensic Files is called Innocence Lost. Five year old Melissa Lee Brannen went missing during a Christmas party at the Woodside Apartment Clubhouse on December 3, 1989. Caleb Daniel Hughes was convicted of abducting her with intention to defile. He was a groundskeeper for the apartment complex at the time of the disappearance. Blood (no DNA) and fibers in his car linked him to Melissa's disappearance.
Her body has never been found and Hughes will not disclose anything. I cannot imagine her parents pain. I hope they get some closure someday. Certainly before Hughes is paroled!

If some of you remember that sad case, I wonder if you remember one that happened a year or two before. I remember there was a young girl I think named Rose? Rosie? who disappeared in Burke while riding her bicycle. I think they may have eventually found her bike but never her. I wondered at the time if the two cases were related.

I remember lots of neighbors put up rose-colored ribbons hoping for her return.

I just watched the episode of Forensic files on Melissa, how heartbreaking, that poor mother having to live the rest of her life not even knowing where the body of her beloved child lies. Melissa must'v been terrified.

No dout Caleb will burn in hell but that dosnt ease the pain of what he's done to Melissa and her family. How unbearable.

I am Melissa's one of maternal cousins and I would like to talk to any of you. Her great-grandmother was my grandfather's sister, who raised my mom. My aunt is elderly and I do not dare dredge up questions of Melissa and open old wounds to anyone in the family, so I decided to reesearch online, and happened upon this site. These posts were only 13 hours ago? That's so odd to me because it's been on my mind these past few days after all those years.
There used to be an age-progression photo of her online and I want to see it. Does anyone know where that may be? I haven't watched the show since I was a child. I remember all the tabloids with Melissa's picture, and a spread in Woman's World. I'll never forget that I had rainbow colored kneesocks the morning Mom checked me out of school and told me. I was a few years older than her, just old enough to understand the fear in everyone's hearts.
Melissa had been in Arkansas with us only a few weeks before, and the video footage they used on all the channels was her singing 'Jesus Loves Me' to us at Aunt Edna's house.
I haven't seen it since I was a kid. I thought it was called FBI Files and watch the infos for it often to see if I could find it. It was Forensic files? How might I obtain a copy or see it?

yes, i can promise you that. melissa's family is some of the best i've ever known and that child is loved as much, if not more, today as she was the day she was born. it would be the happiest day in so many people's lives. no questions asked, just open arms, and lots and lots of tears.

I remember this case. I lived in Chantilly, VA at the time and was in high school. I remember seeing the flyers up for her everywhere. I pray you and your family do find her one day Jayme. I hope you can find solace in the fact that she is remembered by many who never knew her. Does her mom have a website for her?

His name was CALEB DANIEL HUGHES and he is very, very responsible for her disappearance. She is gone! However...this is not over by far. She will come home and bring peace to her family.

I'm sorry about your cousin. I am actually watching a show about Melissa's case right now...The FBI Files on WE TV. I was waiting to see if they would give any info at the end of the show but decided to do a search for this episode. I found it,'full episode video' on tv.com . I recently watched the story about your cousin Melissa on Forensic Files. I take an interest in this story because I am a mother and I would like to raise awareness and spotlight child abductions as they are too common and too many to date. What happened to your family is certainly unbearable I am sure and even after 20 years I know the pain is still there. Ever since I saw the story on TV I have been searching the web for any updates and hoping to find that Melissa has been found safe. I couldn't help reading this story that I found particularly interesting over and over again. The story is of a girl who has the idea that she may or may not be Melissa. The young woman in the story who called herself Alexis, I believe, was telling her tale about not remembering her life before the age of 8. She recalled memories of a Christmas party where there was a man, a field, a small cabin and she has the memory of waiting to say goodbye to someone. She also states that she has a brother named Caleb, moved around a lot as a child and has a burn scar on her right forearm . I also noticed that someone posted questions in this forum using the name Alexis, asking questions about the abductor's son's name as well as the son's mother's name, weather or not Melissa's mother is still looking for her and if anyone believes Melissa is alive or not. Could this be the same person from the story? I just wanted to bring this to your attention if it has not been already in hopes that maybe this could be Melissa and to help bring closure to you and your entire family.
