Why does it seem like the Tarkio boys basketball team is getting worse? They seemed to start the season off pretty good but they just seem to get worse. In about the past 2 months they've only won 2 games and its been against the same team. Whats going on?

Basketball, football, track, etc. Take your pick. Tarkio has a problem and it's a variety of issues that could be fixed. Most of the problem lies at home with a lack of parental support and a culture of a losing mentality and excuses.Quality coaching helps too. It is a sad story for a town that many years ago was one of the elites in the area when it came to sports."You get out what you put in." Move to Rock Port, we did.

I find it ironic that the Tarkio Fan posted about the boys team losing on the same exact night that they had a great win over the West Nodaway Rockets. I think the boys team needs to hang in there. Let us encourage the boys basketball program rather than put it down. Go Tarkio!!

I take exception to the Rock Port comment. One year does not make something a trend. Right now Tarkio is suffering from a lack of boys in the high school and only have a few kids to choose from. Rock Port may have done well this year but I do believe that in the last couple of years Tarkio has "owned" them in several sports. If I remember right, the last couple of years, Rock Port was lucky to win 2 or 3 football games a year.Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that they had success this year after coming down to 8 man but don't let your ego over ride common sense. Just last year everyone was crying in their mashed potatoes because you only had one senior out and you were getting your tails kicked.

In small schools there are often "Down years" caused by small swings in student population and talent. It comes and goes. You just have to be patient and be faithful to the team, win or lose. Everyone is a great coach when they are sitting in the third row of the bleachers

It seems like memories are short, If I wanted to I could go back into topix and "Bump" all of the threads about Rock Port sports issues back to the top. This little thread had nothing to do with Rock Port, but once again someone had to make it a Tarkio/Rock Port thing. It gets old.

And as for the person that started this topic. You are a gutless crybaby just trying to start something. Go back to watching "That 70's Show" and looking at your old high school yearbook.

I don't follow many sports but I do believe that Tarkio has pretty much ruled in wrestling the last few years.

It's a good thing that Rock Port and Tarkio have each other to bash on because most people couldn't find either one on a map let alone give a sh1t about which one is better in sports.
