I am the mother of two young boys, 9 and 8 years old. My husband lost his job in the summer and since we were and still are a one income family that was the beginning of our downward spiral. We lost our home which we were renting at the time and were unable to find any other employment in the state that we were in. So we packed up our family of four with the family pets and all and made a move to another state in hopes that we would find employment and again be self sufficient in a home of our own, rent/own. Our hopes were again dashed as the days and weeks went by and still no employment. So we found ourselves bouncing from one friends to another families home where things were just not working out for us. So again, we packed everyone up, pets and all and moved to another state with the same hopes of employment and a home. All of this done on a very small unemployment check that we were receiving weekly. We ultimately ended up in a motel that would allow us to try to keep our family, pets included together, but, still no income or a home that was within our price range, granted not much money to work with after paying rent weekly, food and all requirements. Finally, employment came through, however, that meant we again had to pack everyone up and move yet again to another state. We have been living out of a motel for a couple of months now, where we don't even have a fridge or micro. to cook or keep food. We have since lost two of our three beloved pets. We have had to spend the last two holidays in a motel, and now looks like we are going to have to spend Christmas, too. My family has suffered and gone without the basics and any quality of life for far too long. We now have employment, but, still without a home that we can afford. We only have some clothes and very little else with us, due to the fact that all of our belongings that we have left are scattered across two states that we aren't even near now. We need a home. We need a life...We need a Christmas miracle....

but you have the internet?

Sorry but every year I hear the SAME story. Poor, broke, got kids, pets, homeless, and we need a Christmas miracle. Sorry, but you aren't the only ones that have been in that boat. The only way you are going to get that miracle is to get up and get it done yourself.

I disagree with you partner. Many circumstances can put a desperate down on their luck person in touch with the internet. As a matter of fact,I had every reason to believe this was an honest writing.Based on the enormity of the hard-times she said her family was facing.Plus the fact that she simply seemed to be desperate and releasing some pressure aware that no-one could fix her situation,,,"multiplied " by the fact that, unless I misunderstood something,,,she didn't ask for anything. Anyway,I'm just curious.Did you even consider that you just could be wrong,,,before you started shootin' off your mouth???

No offense but you can have the Internet on a prepaid phone. Or be at a relative or friends to use theirs. It may be the same story year after year but have a heart and help someone in need. Tis' the season to be helping. Kids that have nothing will appreciate even a small gift from someone. And if you deliver that gift personally to the family and give it to the child, it would give you a beautiful feeling of being able to help out in some small way. Don't be cold and cruel because 'its the same old story every year' from people. It's never the child's fault for a parents shortcomings on anything. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

9 times out of 10 I'm not though. Every year its the same sob story. Every year its the same desperate situations. And 99% of the time, those people are usually doing way better than I am. It's a scam, and the holidays bring out the scammers. If I had a nickle for every woe is me story I'd be rich. People that are worried about their kids being homeless will be outside, hustling and busting their humps to provide for their families, not sitting on their butts posting on Topix about how bad their situation is.

Where would one send a check?

You laid out your plight, but left no contact for those of us (mostly Democratic minded) who might wish to make your miracle happen.

You really should have left a contact address.

I get the internet is included in the motel room as we pay weekly. And for the sob story, no I disagree it is not. Don't judge me because you've heard it before and no I do not fall for the internet scams, although it is awful that people take advantage of others that way. Not everyone is out to scam or out to be greedy.

This story is genuine and I can understand your view Nazi, but not everyone is fortunate and not everyone is sobbing. I am standing and trying to move forward....

AS for contact, you can contact me if you want at jamesnorman1970@yahoo.com. This is for our children.
And I am working if read correctly, and paying fr shelter, food and other necessities for the children. I am not on food stamps and not on any government aid program. Don't judge a book by a cover you've glanced over many times....

sorry, but I still have to question it. Anybody that claims their situation is as bad as you make it out to be will either

A.go apply for food stamps, then maybe they could save a buck or two.

and

B.Go apply for section 8 housing. Hell I know a girl that won't hit a lick at anything and still manages to get a free apartment.

If your children are school aged, i'm sure then they have been in contact with you with programs to help. They will know if your living in a motel, they may even call CPS to do a welfare check. They would help get you into permanent housing.

Anybody that gets on topix and tells this sort of story has got to be full of it.

Times are hard for many middle class families. For the past 26 years we always bought for other families in need, this year we will not be buying for anyone not even those in our own family. I am not sad for the gifts we can not put under our own tree, Just sad that I can not help those that are in need. When we do something for others we do not worry if it is a scam, That is not what kindness and sharing is about. It is a blessing to us to help another. I do not have a lot, but happy to share what I got. If their is a kroger near you let me know,,, I have a gift card I would be happy to send your way. prayers for you and your family.@@@@@@@@starz direct deposit allows you to be any where and still collect monies.

My email is in this thread email me and I can give you their contact info. I am kind hearted and willing to help this family because I myself have an 8yr old daughter and would want the help if I needed it. People these days are hard to read when it comes to things like these because you never know but I'm the type I'd give my last dollar if I felt they needed it more than I did.

PB that is fine if you do, because I know it isn't and I know there are decent people out there who have hit hard times, and there are those that work scams and that is just sad that they do. Enjoy your holiday season and thanks for your comments. Although I have not forgotten that there are those who abuse the system or try to scam others, but your comments help remind me that the world has changed, that people have changed. It is a cruel world out there and you fit right in......

Well, there is over a two year waiting list on section 8 when I called them a month ago. Secondly I have a job now, recently started so I make 2.87 cents above the limit to get food stamps, as for school my children are well educated and that is one thing not affected by this. The children are fine, thanks you for the concern there. Trust me, I have tried the agencies, the shelters, the charities and we do not qualify because of my new job. Thank you for the comments and have a happy holiday seaon

just so you know your prayers will go unanswered. ill make sure of that. i really enjoy making people suffer a little extra this time of year. its not hard; things like envy, lust, gluttony, and spendthrifting make my life much easier.

it was me who made you hit that crack rock as a kid. and it was me who prevented you from obtaining gainful employment.
