By the way....remember when Desert Shield & Desert Storm happened & the media was carrying story after story about the self interested troopers yelling into microphones that they ONLY joined the military for the schooling benefits? They didn't expect or plan to actually see combat so they cried into every camera. Didn't they read their enlistment contracts?<quoted text>
Who's rewriting history? It's not like our government knocks door to door finding young men to be shipped to battle. We haven't had a draft in this country since the early 70's. The people that join our military today (and during the aftermath of 911) offer their services and lives to this country. They do so willingly in spite of the leftist propaganda that they were forced into battle.
And speaking of rewriting history, you don't know that Haliburton is the only company in the entire world that was capable of rebuilding Iraq? That Haliburton has been used in every US rebuilding project since the Vietnam war? That it was Haliburton that built Saddam's oil industry in the first place? Who should we have called, Patio Enclosures?
Now that half of the people in the US live off the other half, I do hope your grandchildren are much more logical when they see 70% or 80% of the people living of the 20% of 30% in this country, because if we keep following the pattern we are on today, that's exactly what it's going to be like in the next 20 years or so....... that is if the country doesn't collapse by then.
By the way, I enlisted & did not whine & complain. IF memory serves me right, the draft officially ended on 1-1-73 but they started the transition to the new rules 1 yr earlier.
