Kodiak Launch Complex looks for cash
When the Missile Defense Agency last year relocated its testing to Kwajalein Atoll in the South Pacific, it took with it much of the business of Alaska's Kodiak Launch Complex, leaving facility executives searching for new launch opportunities.

For over 15 years, the KLC has depended almost entirely on federal and state handouts to stay open; launch revenues have NEVER covered the cost of operating the facility. They didn't launch a single rocket in 2009 and only one in 2010. It's time to stop the corporate welfare and stop throwing our state money away on a corroding white elephant, jokingly referred to in Kodiak as "Space Pork Kodiak".
