legalize it and tax it already
|

It is definitely time for legalization. Right now may be the best time for California to push it through. The Feds will have to accept it as a way for the state to make revenue. It really is no worse than alcohol. Let there be SMOKE!!!

Wait...what?
|

Do it!! It will be beneficial to everyone..
Maybe ppl will take up smoking pot instead of drinking alcohol. I'm not by any means saying ppl should smoke, it is just a very much SAFER alternative. A lot of ppl already are smoking pot anyways. Alcohol= Violence & craziness Marijuana=Happy and chill |

1 Marijuana= people saying things like "it's just very much safer" Please step away from the bong, your brain cell is getting lonely. |

Go for it! It is tax dollars that the state will get that the drug dealers are not paying now. This is a win, win for all. Let the billions of dollars come to the state and legal sellers of pot.

Can you imagine the tourists coming to CA? Even though there are many that can't handle pot just as booze, this state needs something because we don't want to stop illegals walking in and giving them free medical and education....pot is much safer then the bottle.
|

Id rather be around a stoned pot head then a drunk, use some common sense, think outside your beer. You have no idea how many of us are driving around stoned on weed. |

1 I don't drink or smoke the herb. I would be in support of this legislation if CA would take other steps to stop out of control spending first. If CA stopped giving ANY kind of assistance to illegals and fixed there welfare system and still couldn't come up with enough money I would support the legalization of pot. CA doesn't have an income problem, I give the state thousands a year. The state has a spending problem. I agree marijuana is not as bad as meth but how many kids do you see who have drank a couple of beers and have lasting effects. Kids are dumb enough these days. We don't need to make it any easier for them to get their hands on weed. This WILL impact kids. |

A comment like that makes you look like the dumb one.Like I said, a lot of people already smoke weed or have at least tried it. Whether you like to believe it or not, it is safer than alcohol. "No Withdrawal. One who has intensively studied the 100-years record is Dr. Tod H. Mikuriya, now a psychiatrist in private practice in San Francisco but last year a consultant on cannabis research to the National Institute of Mental Health. All the evidence from a century's medicinal use, says Dr. Mikuriya, shows that the drug is not a narcotic in the medical sense. It is not physiologically addicting, so there are no withdrawal pangs. There is little or no buildup of tolerance that would lead to the use of increasing doses, as is the case with the true narcotics—opium, its refined extracts (heroin, morphine' codeine) and their synthetic substitutes. Additionally, Dr. Mikuriya reported, cannabis is so nearly nonpoisonous that to kill one mouse requires 40,000 times the dose that makes a man high. By contrast, 20 times the relaxant dose of alcohol can kill a man." http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9... Why don't u actually post your own opinion in here about the article in stead of downtalking myself because you don't like mine. Do u even know anything about it? |

It already impacts kids. It is readily available to them and will continue to be. That can not be stopped. It is easily and quickly grown. Billions spent on the war on drugs for the last 40 years did nothing to curb the use by anyone. The question is does the state really need to keep spending so much money to imprison so many pot heads when that is the only "crime" they commit? What does it cost to keep them in prison, something like $75,000 a year. An how many are in prison?? That alone would be a noticible budget reduction. |

One: Its a fact that California agriculture thrives on the backbone of illegal farm labor. I'm not saying it is good but it is a fact. Most homegrown Californians think they are too good for that type of work. California ag. needs illegal labor and illegal labor needs California ag. We pay higher taxes becuase of the quality of life we have in the greatest United State. Two: If you ask around any California High School you will find that illegal marijuana is much easier to get your hands on than alcohol and if you leagalize it then it will be treated like alcohol. 21 and older. Zero tolerance when driving. By the way, when alcohol was made illegal people produced it underground in an unsafe manner and still drank. Legal pot would be safer because it would be regulated. Three: Take my comments with a grain of salt and maybe a spliff. |

I think they should just make it legal ,people who use it get it.Then there are those, and I know whole families that have medical pot cards ,go figure, someone is makeing money. They have back pain probably or are bi-polar,they need to be on it they are all lathargic ,because they are so over weight they can not move,so yea that medical pot really helps their condition.I do not know if when they buy it for medical reasons ,is it taxed,I am not to informed it this field.

I think if the government steps in and makes it legal then they can also put regulations on it like we have on cigarettes. If the same regulations are put on it like cigarettes, it would be harder for people under the age of 18 to buy it legally. If anyone under the age of 18 is caught with it or under the influence, then they go to court and pay the county a huge fine. That itself may discourage illegal use.
