Instead of cooperating with what we need, they're into their own corporate world of $ first, customer second.
If they did it the other way around, they wouldn't have to worry about the money.........

I went in today for a tour and the gym looks awesome. I know from experience that it's hard to open up a business in this township. The customer service was great when I went in.

I also went into the gym and it looks to becoming out great. I have to say the customer service has been great. I have been dealing with a young lady who is professional and not a cheesy sales person. I joined for my wife and myself and think it's a preety good deal.

Absolute B.S. above - I'm noticing more and more people affiliated with Gold's Gym are posting on here and everywhere else on the internet to salvage a very damages reputation that Gold's Gym has developed in Exton already. They definitely took Exton residents for a ride, promising that we should sign up because they would open up by May 2008. Well, I signed up... it's September and they're still not open. And since May, I kept calling and asking "When are you guys opening?" and eveytime the repsonse was "in 2-3 weeks" - and then 2-3 weeks would go by and nothing. When you confronted anyone at the sales office about their statement about 2-3 weeks, they give you the same acnned answer: "Oh, we never said that... but we are opening in 2-3 weeks from now" - vicious cycle. I cancelled my membership over 2 months ago, and still have not gotten my membership signup fees back (almost 300 bucks for me and my wife). But of course, it only took them a matter of minutes to take my money when I signed up. I keep calling now asking for my money back and they just keep telling me they are running behind and that my request will be forwarded.
They told all people to sign up becaus ethey would open in May, and then it was June, and then July, and then it was August, and now it's September and they told someone I know that they'll be opening in October - I highly doubt it. I for one, will never deal with this type of shady practice again.

Oh yeah - and do a search on comments about this gym - you'll notice the blaitant attempts of these folks promoting their gym like it's doing really well right now even though Exton still has not granted them a license to open up yet. I doubt they'll even get there by October, maybe November. Man, I am peeved over how they screwed me over.

Ok - I, like the majority of you listed above, am BEYOND pissed at the lack of communication and slowness of this whole process - ESPECIALLY, as a bride-to-be. As the months have gone by, I've gotten more and more ticked off. The only thing that's kept me around was reading that getting the deposit back takes next to forever, and my undying optimism that it's Gold's and eventually someone with half a brain would step in and realize this isn't how to conduct honest business. So, I figured I'd reach out to them one more time,(after having left a scathing email about 2 months ago and receiving the run-around in a response call leaving me more frustrated). I just spoke with "Amanda" who said that the township is coming in on Monday (22nd), and they should be open on Wednesday (24th). I'll be keeping my fingers crossed, but would definitely not be surprised if they pushed it off even further.

This place is a joke!!! I joined in May and was told that they would be opening in June. I have also heard the 2-3 week excuses. I also heard from them that they were ready to open, but were awaiting approval from the Township. I spoke with the Township Codes Officer and found out Gold's was lying. I am now trying to get my money back and Gold's is refusing and is trying everything to avoid me. I was just at the gym today and they don't have any equipment and won't be opening anytime soon. THIS PLACE IS EXACTLY THE REASON PEOPLE HATE JOINING GYMS AND DEALING WITH THEM!!

I just called and was told that they will be open for classes only starting at 5 PM tomorrow. As for the rest of the gym, they are hoping for the end of the week. We'll see...

If you now check their website (Goldsgym.com locate Exton)as well as emails sent to members, they have passed their inspection and will be open for business at 7am. on Saturday the 27th. Rather than what until all of their equipment arrives they are starting classes and use what machines they have alreayd recieved. It seems they are really trying to get everyone started as soon as they can. I am sure they logged these complaints, thats why they are moving soo fast. I too also joined in May but I knew all along that it would open just fine. This is a Golds Gyms (International fitness company aka A real Company) and not Joes Gym (Independently owned and opperated = could be open one day and closed the next). I am been waiting nicely with others and I am very excited to get in the gym and workout.

Does anyone know if the kid's club will be open right away? I am almost afraid to call and find out because if it's not I will raise hell. I can't use the gym without it.

Also- anyone go yet? What equiptment do they have? Do they have ellipticals yet?

Thanks, Tony. So do you work at Gold's as Staff or are you Management/Owner?

This line is my favorite:'I am been waiting nicely with others and I am very excited to get in the gym and workout.'

Also:'I too also joined in May but I knew all along that it would open just fine.'

You aren't even trying to hide you are affiliated with the gym.

I am still left wondering if Joe's Gym would have lied to me and ignored my repeated requests for updates and reimbursements.

Sorry but I do not work for Golds. There is another gym in Downingtown that has had problems with people trying to get memberships cancelled. I'm not saying it is right to lie. I did join in May. I was starting to sweat when they were putting off their opening date. But i know all along that it would get done sooner or later. And now its finally open so no one needs to complain anymore. Im just excited to start lifting again. Wish there were more gyms in the area. Maybe it could drive now prices. I do like my girlfriends LA Fitness gym she uses, but thats in Lancaster PA (is a but more expensive)

I'm getting ready to sign on the dotted line with this Gym, but was wondering about one particular item from those of you who have commented and also joined the gym. When I initially spoke to the owner, Bob, at Marchwood S.C. office, no mention was made of a yearly fee every January for "equipment maintenance" of $29.95. Now that I spoke to Ashley during tour at opened gym, this new fee was presented to me! That's of course in addition to $69 sign-up fee, then up front payment of beginning and end month's fee. Those of you who have since joined... were you notified of this new "Maintenance" fee?!?!

I joined in May. I really can't remember if I was told about this. Probably just a BS fee. Hopefully they use this money for the actual equipment and not just pocket the money. I remember at school I payed a $100 "technology" fee. That was total BS. Its not a bad place. If its only $30 once a year, not that big of a deal. Now if it was like 50-70 a year, then I would be calling foul.

I just came across this page again. They did tell me about the $29 fee. I kind of think it's BS too - upkeep should be part of the membership. However the price for the kids club more than makes up for it. For $10 a month they watch my daughter for about and hour and a half 3 or 4 days a week. I feel really comfortable with all of the babysitters- most of them know my daughter by name and know what she likes to do or watch if she gets bored. There is simply no excuse for stay at home moms and dads to not work out! It's great for your health, your sanity- and great socialization for kids. If I didn't go to the gym I'd probably be spending more money going to the mall and chick filet just to get out of the house.

AVOID THIS GYM! First we signed up and had to wait months for the place to open, once it opened it was packed every time we went and had a hard time getting on any of the equipment. After our contract was up and we had moved over an hour away we tried to cancel our accounts numerous times via telephone, and couldn't catch a manager on the clock no matter when we called, and they NEVER returned one call. Finally one of us stopped in and got an account cancelled, the other account needed to have a form signed and faxed back to cancel. Form was confirmed sent and received and yet the next month the account was billed. Called and faxed the gym again and no one there to talk to and no calls returned. Finally after over a week of calling I was told to call ABC financial to get the money refunded and the account properly closed. So I sit for 20 minutes on hold after being told to call back because of high volumes just to have the person at ABC tell me they couldn't reach anyone at the gym who could confirm the cancellation of the account so they would have to call me back. What a joke! Why would a couple who bought a new house and moved only cancel one of two accounts? They can't just use common sense and say hey these accounts were created together and closed together, lets actually close the accounts? I guess that's what happens when you mix the corporate mindset and a location being run by a group of people with far more muscle than brain. This is why planet fitness is going to steal away all your members....funny how you had to start our charging $40. a month when planet fitness can do it for $10....now all of a sudden your prices drop to meet theirs. What is the catch with this deal? Do you have to give up your first born? Gold's Gym is HORRIBLE!

So unhappy with this Gym. The management is HORRIBLE and rude. I believe his name is Corbett.
He has no personal skills at all!!! I don't know how he became a manager but he should be fired. I cannot explain how rude he was to me! Do not join this GYM!! They lied since day 1.

Just found out in an email the other day that they have moved from Exton to Downingtown. I was just in the gym a few days before this emai and there was no mention of it. They are blaming the move on irreconcilable differences with the landlord. Th took over the old Valant, i mean Fitness 360, there are literally 3 signs when you enter this gym. I am ending my membership; the location just doesn't work for me any more.

Is anyone else pissed about how they just up and moved out of Marchwood with no notice-and say just go to this new gym and everything is just fine! I have been trying to reach the person who emailed me about this to no avail- I think I am going to contact news stations as I think this is a story they would love to report on- anyone reading this who is mad contact channel 10,3 and any other local stations you think would have an interest is this breach of contract by Golds Gym.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Scorpio

Something that you've always taken for granted or believed implicitly could have a big question mark hanging over it during the next few weeks. The more entrenched your views are about this, the more difficult it will be to accept that perhaps it's time for a change of opinion or, at the very least, a revaluation of what you think. Mercury turns retro in your house of communications, so do your best to be open-minded now.
