1000 = figure of speech, but 47 seems to be the fact. I was surprised that 47 was the number. The media makes it seem like a lot more.
47 = 1.5 people / million-people murdered each day in the United States, right?
So when ya take a town of 8,200 people like Latrobe and divide that into 1,000,000 people, that means there's a chance of murder happening in Latrobe on a daily basis (no calculator here) of about .00000015
Must be same chance ass winning the Power Ball...
Hi Jagger...
Maybe you should invest in a calculator. You were only off by a factor of 82,000

0.15 per million

Brush up on those math skills a little and you just might be able to land that job at Walmart stocking shelves.

I like when all of you do my work for me.

It's cold; my fingers are frozen. Are you sure it's only 15%(that's the number you list above?) per million?

That would equal 150,000 death per million.

Now who needs the calculator???

I'm not off by 82,000. I have to be off by 10 or 100, 1000, 10,000 or some number like that.

Let's see...

Now where is my calculator...

I agree with that, the media actually does make it seem like more.
Yesterday, there was a shooting at a small college in Texas. Instead of reporting it as an isolated fight between two idiots, which is what it turned out to be, the media reported it as a "school shooting". That follows the currenet "guns are bad" narrative that the media is pushing along with the Obama Administration.
I checked a couple of sources too and most of the numbers were from 2008. And, I was trying to ensure that I wasn't reading stats compiled by the NRA or some other pro-gun sites, where 9/10th of the US population wasn't counted or something.

However, it does add up to 16,555 deaths per year in the USA. And, that's twice the population of Latrobe, murdered each year. And when one sees that -- yearly -- statistic, it's alarming.

P.S. I saw your other thread and I am not Mr. Weed. I am aware of your continuing obsession with me and I ask that you please stop emailing me, calling me, and please for the love of God stop sexting me.....I can't take it anymore :)

Sadly, I would trust the NRA stats before I would trust the government stats. I saw a government-provided statistic once that noted the high rate of children killed by violence. The number seemed high to me until I realized the government was counting "children" as 21 years and younger. The vast majority of these deaths were 17-21 y/o gang members. At least the NRA has an unfriendly press constantly checking NRA-provided statistics.
Having said that, if there were 16,000 murders, it stands to reason that not all of those were gun-related.
Furthermore, how many of those gun-related murders were gang/criminal/drug related?
Agreed. Would certainly trust the NRA before I would trust the "regime".

Your calculations imply that you work for the regime. Faulty, at best.
