Mayor Menard recently extolled the alliance between North Smithfield and Woonsocket by saying it is time that individual communities realize they cannot afford to provide every service by themselves.
Is anyone researching the potential in regionally joining schools at the secondary level? Why aren't we seeking to join forces with Lincoln or Smithfield? How much can the small amount of taxpayers in North Smithfield afford? The majority of tax dollars go to schools, what about everything else a community needs?
As far as predicting future school population, the cultures within our country that are having more children are not the cultures that are choosing to live in North
Smithfield, so I question that the growth of school age children will increase, it may well decrease.
