We were terribly disappointed with Elite Auto of Exeter recently. We have used them in the past with no problems but our past few visits have really shown us that the business is going downhill. The first of the most recent was for a mere oil change and tire rotation for one of our vehicles. The bill was $100!

A couple weeks later, I returned with our other vehicle for an inspection and fluid/oil change. They failed me and told me I needed repairs on my vehicle in order to pass my inspection before my plates expired in less than two weeks. They quoted me nearly $1600 just in materials (not including labor) to make these repairs (they said I needed four new tires and that someone had "moused with" the wiring in one of the high beam lights and it wasn't good enough to pass inspection and would need time and labor costs to repair it. They claimed they tried just replacing the light and that it still didn't come on and therefore they assumed it was a wiring issue.

After leaving Elite and reviewing my receipt more carefully, I realized they never even changed my oil or checked any of my other fluids!!

I took the car to VIP and had all the repairs completed in under 24 hours for $1950 total for not just rear brakes, but front ones too with replacement shocks. They believed the front brakes were what was causing the shaking of the steering wheel and the slipping feeling on the gas pedal. They were right. The repairs VIP made solved all the problems with the car. Additionally, they replaced the high beam light and said it worked just fine- no wiring issues! The cost at VIP also included four new tires- in my opinion- BETTER tires than Elite had quoted us.

In effort to not pay someone else for another inspection- I returned to Elite after VIP made all the necessary repairs for Elite to do a reinspect. I foolishly assumed a re-inspection wouldn't cost anything because everywhere else we had been had never charged for a re-inspect as long as it's within thirty days of the first inspection. This was a mere week later. They took my car and the woman that works at the front desk came out to the waiting area with an odd grin on her face telling me "You're good til December of this year. You don't need an inspection." I replied "What do you mean I don't need an inspection? I was just here a week ago and you already inspected it and told me it failed and sent me to seek nearly $2000 in repairs within 10 days." She just laughed liked it was no big deal to her and said the appropriate sticker was already on there.

Well, the sticker that was already on there was from Elite Auto- last year! They put the wrong sticker on (their fault) and therefore passed me for inspection for two years when it should have been one. This is something they shuold have noticed and I believe they did notice upon the first inspection. They were just hoping I'd purchase a few thousand in repairs from them!!

Further, we just took our other vehicle (the first one I spoke of) to VIP today for it's inspection (Elite actually put the right sticker on this one- inspected for ONE year). VIP said in this state (and he showed us the law to prove it)- all windows in the vehicle have to work properly. In this vehicle, the rear driver side window hasn't worked in years. The motor broke in it. It stays almost all the way up with a small crack at the top. We fitted it with slightly tinted plexiglass a couple years ago and it's stayed in place ever since. It's definitely noticable that it isn't a window, but its worked, even thru New England winters. VIP noticed it and it has to be fixed by the end of the month. Not a problem. I think their rates are reasonable. But how very interesting that Elite has never noticed- or if they did, they don't know the laws because they've always passed the inspection on this vehicle!

I've learned my lesson. We will NEVER return to Elite Auto. What a ripoff. I hope no one else has to learn the truth about Elite the hard way!!

I had a great experience with elite auto of Exeter.
This post must be a hoax I've been a customer for 2 years and never had a problem. I would recommend anyone to elite auto, this guy obviously left a few things out of this post about what really went on. I talked to the owners and saw the repair orders and there were no mentioning of front brake pulsation or oil change wanted. I saw that there quote was substantially lower than what this customer said he was quoted at elite auto.

This is what you get when you cut a customer a break. Obviously they didn't need front brakes or front shocks. Vip obviously are the crooks,They talked him into a $2000 bill which would have been around $1600 with labor to make his vehicle safely inspectable.:)
