No, they'll hunt down the mountain lion and maybe kill two or three in the process.

Madd in FL - obviously you've never been to the mountains of Colorado. "Normal neighborhood"? There is not such thing here. Maybe you shouldn't respond to things you don't understand.

I don't think it is a matter of never have been to Colorado I think it is about having a bit of compassion for the dog and what the dog has been through. Blue Healers are not well known for being very aggressive, they are very passive dogs and for Lady to have survived a mountain lion attack is an amazing fete in itself...
The dogs owner must have been mortified with guilt to witess what happened, does she really eed to have salt rubbed into open wounds ?

What was truly amazing is that the owner let her two kids play outside in the area that same afternoon after the attack happened. And since "Lady" wandered back home after being buried by the cat there is a wounded animal trail leading right to her house...bet the coyotes, foxes, and the mountain lion appriciate that.

Heelers are known to be good guard dogs. They protect their owners from strangers and dangers, so I'm not surprised Lady put herself between the moutain lion and her owner.
It's just too bad that her owner didn't go after her more quickly.
