Everett City Planners and Boeing

I don't understand the goal of the Everett City Planners in not allowing Boeing to build parking garages at Everett.
It is giving Boeing one more reason to look at other sites when they consider adding another production line.
They are talking about the 777 max being build in Everett, but how is that possible given the current parking situation there?
How many businesses even make parking a prime consideration when they discuss expandiing the business? I don't think people who do not work at that facility realize the extent of the problem. Many employees there walk around a mile or more from their car to their desk. For many employees like myself, it takes longer to walk from the parking lot to my desk then to drive from my house to the parking lot.
You have states like South Carolina offering Boeing everything they can think of to come there and expand and then you have the city of Everett who won't even allow Boeing to build parking garages?

You are correct and have a most genuine concern in the SC situation.
Times are changing.
The Everett plant is still heavily unionized. Many workers take union pay as a given right.
The folks in SC will give quality work, union or not, for about half the salary of the Everett plant.
The handwriting is already on the wall.
Boeing will never abandon everett but they have and ARE shifting key people to SC for more money.
The bottom line and the savings in the long run will be the justification of Everett's inability to cater.<excuse>
... Believe me, a parking garage should be the least of your concerns....
You are wise, my friend.

Everything could and should be built in Everett or the USA!!!!!
The US(Everett)is only an assembly point like the car industry for componet parts of aircraft which are manufactured around the world, many in communist countries. Such is business these days in the global economy.
Everyone needs aircraft.
Many concerns and issues exist.
Integrity of the components.
The out sourcing issue, itself.
The changing business climate.
The climate of government contracts and how they are awarded!

It doesn't seem like everyone understands, it's just Boeing saying that Everett won't let them build garages. Everett really doesn't care if they do, they understand to prohibit that it would be a reason for Boeing to use to move more work away. Boeing just doesn't want to spend the money on new garages and uses the Everett excuse. Why would they want to spend millions of $$$ because oldie garages when they can just spend tens of thousands to shuttle employeees around.
