I think a casino will bring in undesirable people not to mention the traffic nightmare it would create. I say absolutely not.

Still up in there air on the casino I personally love going to the casino and have been to Vegas 5 times but I'm not really sure I want it in my backyard it really depends on what plan they come up with if their not fixing traffic lowering taxes hiring more police and firefighters then I won't be behind it but if they can get a direct off ramp from 93 put a sub station for police and fire it might work not convinced though

Seriously? Hire more police and firefighters, maybe. I actually think there's enough firefighters now but we could use more cops. Lower our taxes????????? NEVER!! The new revenue would just get spent on hiring new hacks and other wasteful spending. Or they'll have to be new social programs for all the new downtrodden moving into the city. But don't think for one minute our real estate taxes will be lowered no matter what they say.

Wynn is going to take one look at Everett and the infrastructure and demographics here and hightail it out of here and not give Everett a second thought anyway. Everett is definitely not his kind of place. It is, however, one of the few cities that would possibly be stupid enough to approve the casino. Most other cities would say "not in my backyard" while Everett will say "please come and ruin our city".

I agree. Wynn is going to take one look at that dump on Chemical Lane and if he researches the land he will skedaddle so fast the mayors head will spin.

no no no no no no no no no. Home values will plummet. think there's crime now? Traffic, noise, social issues. We can get the benefits of the jobs and employment with a casino at Suffolk Downs which is a perfect location. right next to the airport. People land, gamble, leave their money and don't drive through Everett. That section of 1A on the Revere- Eastie line is a dump and this may revitalize it with much less impact on us. Think about it, they want the casinos to be a major destination. That was part of their selling point to make people think we just get other peoples money (not true, in my opinion, it will be mostly local money getting drained from people who will now not have money to spend on the local economy, but whatever)and they will come from other parts of the country, which means they have to drive from the airport. Just put it next to the airport.

You are right. Maybe the fools on this site should wait and see what the plan is. I know we have all kinds of big companies fighting to develop that site so why anyone would say no without first seeing the plan is crazy. 1 BILLION DOLLAR HOTEL AND CASINO. And thought the people in Foxboro were stupid.

No casino
Home values drop for anything within 5 miles

Impossible to sell residential homes

Increased traffic
More services i. e. police, firemam, emt
More auto accidents
jobs are low paying. Ct only pays min wage most are part time

Worst thing for Everett.

They will have a brilliant plan with minimal traffic impact. It will be great. Just take their word for it. What did the big dig cost? Have a money problem? don't fix the problem, build a Casino! Who needs manufacturing, technology jobs, businesses that actually produce something. Like pizza. Just build a Casino. It's free money. Don't worry about what it does to small local businesses when their customers are at the craps table and have no money left. Casinos are the answer.

That was sarcasm.
