I want to warn people of a recent incedent that happened today dec6 2010 about a call I heard on the police scanner a person said a man went to a persons home in everett and took delivered packages from UPS off the porch and went back to his vehicle with the packages and fled.Be warned!

I ordered a sweater as a gift and UPS just threw the box on my porch (I live on the first floor of a triple decker on the very busy Belmont St.) without ringing the doorbell or taking the package back with them and leaving a "sorry we missed you" note on my door.. When I got home from work and checked the tracking number, it said it was delivered to my home.. my neighbor upstairs said she saw it when she left and when she got back it was gone.

Luckilly the shipper sent me another sweatshirt but why isn't UPS doing their job? What if I ordered a 55" TV, are they just gonna leave it on my door step? Ridiculous.

I know I notice that a lot lately its wrong for them to just leave something unattended like that its do to there to lazy to come back. But someone could be srewed especially if the package had value like a tv.your so right!more people need to start complaining to ups of fedex etc?also with rush of the shopping season and less time to go into stores because of peoples work scedule or busy lives online shopping is big.But again you run the risk of stolen or lost packages!

Obviously ups would not leave a tv on the porch or I would hope not. UPS does have the discrepancy to either leave the package or will have anyone in the building sign for it.
You can however call them and request that your package be delivered to someone you trust, another neighbor, give them the shipping number and they can do that for you. You really cannot trust anyone these days.

Fedex and Ups can not leave a package if the shipper requires a signature,Its the shipper that has 3 options to choose from when sending the package, 1. adult signature must be over 18 to sign and has to at the house of the delivery 2. indirect signature, u can sign, or neighbor, or customer can sign door tag and it can be left next time, 3. no signature required. oh and to the 55 inch tv everything over $500 must have signature, but I would hope if you were buying something that expensive u would drive to bestbuy. SO blame the shipper on your package just being left, or tell them you want your packages to be signed for. Just a little 101 on how and why your packages get left or not

Our 32" LCD was left sitting on my porch , in plain sight,
in it's TV imprinted box,
when I ordered it over the summer.

First of all I would never buy anything from Best Buy again - they deliver my TV to the wrong house and wouldn't come back and deliver it to the correct house and still expected to get paid for it. Second UPS claimed they delivered a computer to my house and said some unknown person signed for it - I was home - they were never on my street as I was waiting for it to arrive so I could go to the Drs'- wouldn't let me contact the dispatcher so I could pick it up the next day from the facility and never bother tracing it - the original company resent me a new computer but the stress that was caused because the UPS driver took off with my computer and the lack of concern by UPS and vendor was unbelievable!

I have been experiencing problems with the service for over a year now. Several complaints were filed. Nothing seems to work. The guy leaves the packages basically on the sidewalk where the mail box is, while the house itself is down the driveway. He would mark the package as delivered and left by the front door. Isn't that ridiculous? One time, it so happened, 5 packages were "delivered" on the same day. It showed "delivered" on the UPS website, however, when I got home (no surprise there) there was NOTHING! I called the main UPS number, filed a FURIOUS complaint. The next day the neighbor girl brought all 5 packages and said she found them by the mailbox...
I was thinking, maybe we can all gather and file a joint complaint or just file the police report...
This is outrageous! An we shouldn't suffer because somebody doesn't do their job right.

Same happened to me last year - somebody unknown to me signed (allegedly) for my package. I was home...
Wanna join me in joint complaint?

the trouble with filing a police report is that the report gets filed away in a file cabinet and we are soon forgotten about i dont think that it is ups fault as much as I think that this happens every holiday season everwhere and it has to do with robbers Theyll go in your house if they have to, and steal from under your tree, whether a package is on the porch or not.

No Malden citizen, if you read my post carefully, you'll see the pattern.
BTW, it happened back in summer 2009 (that somebody signed for it).
Another time I was home sick all day, nobody rang the bell and online it said "notice was left" since nobody was home. Needless to say, there was no notice left.
I get tired of all that...

Suerte, When I first moved to Cleveland Street in 2007 I did not receive notices for packages that were allegedly left by UPS, either. Im not sure they even delivered the packages to me. At first, I automatically assumed that the packages were delivered and I started to question whether the upstairs tenant was involved. Some of the items I ordered, I am still in dispute with credit companies over my having been charged for merchandise not received because UPS is adamant they left packages. Its been an awful nightmare. I don't know who is to blame anymore.

Definitely UPS. They are NOT doing their job. Did you know they HAVE to actually get YOUR signature on delivery? I found out it lately. It's at their own risk and judgment whether to leave a package in a "secure place", so if the shipper files a claim, you are most likely to get a refund. I did.

But my thinking is that we all need to gather and file a mass complaint with the Somerville hub where they deliver from. They need to have the bad drivers fired if they don't give any s**t about other people's property.

Have you ever tried to call the Somerville Hub. UPS will tell you they don't have a phone number. I use UPS at work and never have an issue - only at home.

They are not helpful though. All they can tell is that the packages were delivered per driver...

i ordered my son a pair of sneakers about a week ago and tracked the the package everyday up until the day of its delivery date, I waited by the window almost all afternoon. and then around 3 p.m. i decided to track my package to see the progress..... Funny it said delivered and left on porch!!! Bullshit!! My sons sneakers never came here i have very nosey neighbors and they also noticed that there wasnt a delivery made to my address. I called and made several complaints. i finally find the hub's # and spoke to the supervisor who then "contacted" the driver, i wanted 15 mins for a returned call for me to hear the driver delivered 300 packages he doesnt remember what happened to yours. what are we dealing with a bunch of fools and crooks?!
