listen, I have seen this first hand when one of the coaches of the football team tried to recruit my kid even though we dont live in the city of Everett. A large black male approached us at an event and made a promise that my child would get into a good college and that we would never have to pay a dime. My son was a basketball player and he was told when he showed up for a few saturday morning BASKETBALL sessions, by the way its just the entire football program up in the gym of the school with all the coaches running all football drills and running football plays in the gym, that in order for my son to make the BASKETBALL team he was going to have to join the football team. I thought that was ridiculous and my son went elsewhere. Just really funny that they use basketball as the vessel for football.

Oh and by the way the person whom said that Shannon Crooks, Pat Bradley, Nerlens Noel, Jerome Kohen, Eddie Skeffington and Antoine Coleman you are a moron everyone of those kids has played football at EHS. Bradley was a QB until his dad stepped in and sent him to play AAU which actually is the reason why he attended Arkansas on a scholarship. Crooks played Safety in the 1996 superbowl game against Xaverian and was too cold and made no plays that day. Nerlens was a wide receiver and if anyone remembers they threw him a jump ball in the right corner of the endzone against Xaverian last season that he did not catch. Kohen was made to go out for the team and quit midway through the season. Skeffington and Coleman both played Defensive back I think Ed was a safety and Coleman a DB they were both on at least 1 state title team during the early part of the 2000's. Please folks get your facts straight. Football is King and as long as football is on top the pipeline for basketball runs through football season.

I sure did i grew up in everett and went to school out here as well, and no i never played any sports. I do however have a child that goes to everett high as well as a niece. Both of whom have friends that live outside of everett and commute here everyday whether there coming from boston or other cities.Nothing wrong with a child wanting a good education and believe me they are good kids but when u have recruiters out there bringing them to the school for a simple win of a football game or whatever sport it may be its just not acceptable. My son is a phenomenal football and basketball player neatless to say he is very atheletic but has a heart for basketball and was told by children that if he did not join the football team his chances of making it on the basket ball team where slim outrageous YES and NO he did not join the football team. I've asked parents about this and have called the school parents tell me some of it is true the school of course denies it.
but to each his own right.. I will say that the ehs is nothing like it used to be....

we are talking all the time on here about football. i thought this was about the everett athletic program. Why can't we talk about the volleyball, girls and boys soccer teams that are all close to making the tournament. Why does the conversation always have to be about the football team? Why can't we talk and support all the sports program at everett high.

Those kids probably pay a user fee. Us taxpayers pay for our Everett students to play. I think that's a big difference.

Those are two private high schools that parents pay big tuition for so their children can attend. EHS is a public school for Everett RESIDENTS.

For a person who doesn't live in Everett you certainly have all the names, dates and facts down.

if he was so good why did he quit freshmen, maybe he wanted to play with the little kids in pop-warner or he was 3rd string rb.either way give it a rest,if hes good in hoop he'll play and if hes not good you can use your lame excuse that he didnt play football.why was his parent the only one on the field for his 1 week of high school football?

first of all get your facts straight he never joined the team and i think i made that very clear on my first statement.. I said his heart is in basketball so why would he even join the popwarner team... and what is wrong with a parent being involved with what ever his child might choose to do....

I don't think any taxpayer has an issue with paying taxes or slightly higher taxes for students to play sports, or perform in the arts or music etc. I would have an issue if the football team played in a tournament in Ohio and the funds were paid for by the taxpayer and if the band was competing in NY and had to pay their own way. This situation would be totally wrong.
I agree with you that there is a lot of focus put on certain sports while others appear to be second rate..

But you can't say that these kids don't have talent? It wouldn't matter what their last name was as they have proven all along since Dib took over that they can and do excel on the football field. As for th politics lets leave that for another blog.

Everett does recruit and have been doing it for years. I know Eric Lockhart the former great RB for Stoneham High almost went to Everett. Why he did not who knows the kid was a nut job. But imagine if Eric did go it would have been Lockhart and Omar Easy in the same backfield WOW! Now that would have been unstoppable. I also heard coach Dibiaso recruited Rasheed Johnson, Shannon Crooks, Omar Easy and other players back in the day. Everett is the new Brockton!

I don't know about the others but I know for a fact Rasheed Johnson was not a recruit not even close to one. He played with my brothers from Huskies on up to High School and grew up on Arlington Street in Everett. Just Saying get your facts straight.

Well said Rashid. People do not know who knows who when they post untrue facts on here. I understand it is a public forum/blog but true facts are true facts. I will correct you on one thing though, the Washington's might've been the first black family in Everett. But who am I!! Love you Rashid.

Lisa that is part of the reason untrue things get posted. Rashid said clearly that his family was ONE OF THE FIRST not the first. No need for a correction.
