Can someone explain to me how this law works? I got cited this morning parking in the corner of my street even though I've been parking like that for the last 12 years. I've never seen anybody get cited for that. And how does it make any sense that people can't park within 20 feet of in intersection in a neighborhood? I live in the village and EVERY street has an intersection in the end. So does that mean that each block can only have 1 or 2 park cars in the middle of the block 20 feet away from the corners that intersect? I wanna fight this ticket but want to make sure I fully understand this law first. If I'm in the wrong then I'm wrong, I can live with it.

If they're gonna ticket for that, then they should do it across the board..all day every day...not when they feel like it....that goes for the hydrants too...

I googled this. The answer is 20 feet from an intersection. I've seen the parking moron take out a measuring tape on many occasions. I live in front of a fire hydrant. I've seen her at the corner also. I don't know how you are going to prove your case but good luck trying.

There's some really bad corners on busy streets that they need to ticket for this. Sometimes, because you can't see what's coming, you sort of just have to pull out and take your chances there's not another car coming.

Usually some idiot pushes this to the point where they are a hazard, and tickets are written.
The problem is, if they give the idiot a ticket for hanging over the corner, policy is to also give tickets to anyone else in the area 'breaking' the law.
So the guy hanging 2' beyond the corner means the guy 18' from the corner also gets a ticket.

It must have been street sweeping day !!! That's the only time I see cars ticketed or towed in our area. Sometimes I cannot get my vehicle around the corner, and I wonder how they could ever get an emergency vehicle around said corner .... but they never ticket it seems. They even park beside the fire hydrant, no problem !!!

They ticket all the time and I know they look for parking violations also.

The City of Everett does not serve their citizens. They ticket and tow on street cleaning days. There is no ticket given if you are within 20 feet of an intersection and near city hall.What about the law about doing business on city sidewalks like Sony's pizza on Main street and the boat repair on Chelsea street ? the cars on the sidewal at the fire station near the library? Where are the police for these offenses?

I was close to 10ft from the corner, cleared the sidewalk ramp and all. And no it wasn't street cleaning day.

I got this same ticket! I have been very aware of what gets ticketed here in somerville because I've been burned in Allston. After I got this ticket, I started monitoring this spot and this new SUV that is parked there has a visitor pass, is parked closer to the intersection, AND is on their fifth day of not being ticketed! What did I do wrong? Where exactly do they measure from?

20 feet from a corner !!! HA HA HA ... Every corner I turn they are parked probably within 5 feet, 8 at the most !!!!! Cops drive right by....There is so much extra cash this city could rake in for parking infractions, that our taxes could actually go DOWN !!!!! Parking directly by a fire hydrant, no problem !!!!!! Cruises go by and are not even aware there is a hydrant there .... it is covered by the ILLEGALLY parked vehicle..

I've seen them w/their measuring tapes too on a street off of Broadway when I was looking for parking for a wake. They are really recently starting to crack down on this. They even repainted the lines on Main Street in West Everett. Across from Carols they have the line on the street tapering in to the curb so if your tire goes over the line you automatically get a ticket. Like you said, you've been parking like that for 20 years, seems like you just got unlucky, though they'll prob. be around more often now. It sucks to enforce that in places like the village where there IS NO parking. Good luck.

20 feet from an intersection is a state law and not one that your city made up. I hate to admit it, but your city ticket wolves have been doing the right thing when tagging for that particular violation.

I came home to a bill from parking clerks office, opened it immediately cuz had no idea what it could be. Apparently its a late fee added on to a parking ticket, A parking ticket that i never received so i'm pissed, called city hall, they were closing in 3 min so couldn't talk but briefly told me that perhaps the ticket blew off my car, What! so anyways where the ticket was supposedly written was near a store, i do go to that store and when i do i run in and run out. Is their anything i can do to fight this or atleast the late charge where i never received a ticket?

What are the chances that in the 5 minutes you were in the store;
1) a meter maid or cop saw you parked illegally 2) wrote you a ticket 3) the wind then blew it away
All in a 5-10 minute stop at a store?
Much more likely;
1) meter maid or cop saw you and started writing the ticket from their vehicle 2) you came out, got in your car and left 3) cop or meter maid then tossed your portion of the ticket, and submitted their half as if they had placed it.
Who issued the ticket?
My money says that angry meter b!tc# did it from her car.

Yes Chances, i agree with you, however i don't know who wrote the ticket cuz i never got one and to say the wind blew if off, i doubt that, it was written on June 26,(cant recall any windstorm that day) dont have the time but it could only have been during my half hour lunch, all the more reason why i ran it the store and ran out. It's obvious that the meter person didn't have time to put it on my car so why not mail it to me no instead i get charged a late fee for a ticket i never knew i had!

Once they start writing the ticket, you have to pay. You're right, you probably left before she had a chance to put it on your windshield. This city sucks.
