Where would it go?

Even if there was room,
traffic is already horrible in Everett

I couldn't imagine what a casino would do to that.

Gridlock city!!

Maybe it's just what we need to get the damn roads in this city corrected. It's the state that screwed up Santilli Circle & Wellington. Bringing in a casino could actually help that. And wouldn't the tax income & jobs be a great boost for this city.

If a casino is going to be in the Boston area, major road construction is going to have to be done. None of our local roads can handle the traffic a casino will bring. Whether it's Suffolk Downs, or Everett, something will have to be done to alleviate the congestion between 93 & Route 1 to the casino location.

about the only thing on this website that remains consistent is all the negativity,Debbie downers, finger pointing, blame game and rumor starting. I hope all you know that all these blogs & websites consists abouut 0.005% of the Everett population with the makeup of about 10 bitter pols,10 lousy disgruntled city workers (doesn't matter who is Mayor will always be that 10% of workforce that doesn't want to work) and probably another 10-20 citizens who are mad at the world. You all might be saying then why am I on here and the reason is for a good laugh!!!!

So if this happening where and when ? People love to post thing but not follow through with the information! It also took forever to get the revere site approved so I am thinking it not in the near future, but it would bring a lot of money into Everett for more police, firemen , city workers and also employment in many areas of the casino.

A casino will completely ruin Everett

It would be awesome! It would create thousands of jobs and bring in millions of people from other states. Everett would really thrive economically. I used to live in Connecticut, and the state used to bring in 6 million a year from the casinos alone.

To Mrs Tea
Yes it does but it would ruin Everett if it is located here traffic, increased city payroll police emt fire . Let it be somewhere else

With all the hyp by the Mayor of the advantages a casino will bring to Everett, he neglects to mention all the problems it will bring to Everett.

Prostition, gambling addiction, money lost by the poorest citizens of the city and the surrounding cities who might be attracted by the glitz.

A gambling casino in a this city won't be something to be proud of.

Will the residents be allowed to vote on the matter?

This is exactly why the other towns voted against it. Of course Everett doesn't care about their residents though.
Nice to think about

Why not try to look at some of good it may bring
Employment opportunity to the city
Tax revenue
I'm sure part of any construction will be discussing traffic and hopefully redoing the rotary and the mess it is now.
People coming in to go to casino will generate business for local businesses.
As for the above mentioned problems that are mentioned prostitution has been in Everett without a casino. The poorest citizens losing money should know better then to go where they can't afford . Gambling addiction doesn't need a casino, and if there is an addiction it was there prior to casino being built, I understand the concerns but the jobs and revenue from it are a great thing for the community. Iit may make it able for city to hire more police, firemen, city workers, more youth programs, maybe adding some vocational programs to high school. Try not to just look at the negatives,

You make a good point about the tax revenues....but let me ask you this - Why would anyone want to do business in Everett where the tax rate for businesses is twice that compared to surrounding areas? This alone will kill the casino proposal. Besides the casino organizations know exactly where they want one built and will use one site (like Everett) to get a better deal at another site. Believe me, Everett has no chance at this.

Everett is our home. I don't want a casino in my home because it will bring in people we don't want and traffic we really don't want. I don't see it making Everett a nicer place to live and to raise a family. Sure, perhaps we'd have more money for more police, but we'd also have an increase in crime and an increase in strangers coming into the streets where we live. No thanks!

Demaria gonna hang himself w the casino rope
Money will be funneled for other purposes just like how the state lottery operates
Taxes will go up
I still get demand notices
Other less honorable means of generating revenues wb implemented like parking sticker ("for security purpose ")

Wot thing about this whole mess, drawn out in the public eye,

is it means Mumbles Junior DeMaria will NOT be leaving Everett for that cushy job it was rumored he was offered @ the state gaming commission.

He should have jjjust stayed off camera,
in the background,
taken the deal, and done what was best for Everett,
Gone Away!
