I brought my kids for the h1n1 vaccine yesterday and I saw some awful behavior at the clinic by senior citizens. The place opened at 9:30 but we got there at 7 becasue of the lines we ran into before and places running out of vaccines. We had to wait for 2 months ro get the shots because everybody keeps running out even though kids are supposedly priority.

Anyway, I brought my kids and my neighbor brought her twins and her 4 year old. We were about 15 or 20 people from the front of the line. Most of them were single parents with small kids. One guy in way at the front had 2 babies, and the lady right in front of us had a 8 moth old. And way, way up there was an old couple with their 7ish granddaughter.

By the time the clinic opened, there were 9 old people with that one 7 year old at the front of the line. A woman up front said something to them about cutting the line and they all claimed to be her grandparents and told the lady to myob. Then when we got in there, they loudly demanded vaccines and were very rude when they were polietly told that seniors are not on the priority list just for being seniors. apparently, there considered the same as any other adults. They kept pushing and yelling until they ALL got shots.

Mind you, no other adult in the line up to the point I left got a shot except for one nurse with her ID badge because none of us had small infants or had the listed health problems. Even the lady with the 8 month old didn't get one!

Children should be priority one. They are the future and it is the responsiblity of every adult to protect them

The shots should be given out to the school children first. Have the school nurses administer them during school hours - that way no adults could sneak in.

Squeeky wheel(s) get the grease symdome = seniors !!!!!

Had I been giving out the vaccine, I would not have caved in to their demands !!! I would have handed them a list of the guidelines and just side stepped them. Oh yea, wonder if they spoke English...Seems strange one grandchild could have ALL these grandparents !!! Bet if they had to pay ($$$$) they wouldn't have been demanding ....

Was this an Everett clinic? Seniors are no the priority group for H1N1, just for seasonal. I would have refused them the vaccination and called security if they insisted on being obnoxious.

here's my opinion....I honestly dont believe anyone should be getting that H1N1 vaccine. It has been rumored that it can have some extremely serious nuerological side effects...dont get me wrong...I still think if you are concerned about the flu...by all means get your seasonal shot...but stay away from that vaccine...it may do more harm than good. Even just today on the news they were talking about the respirtory side effects that it has been seen to have...be careful...sometimes the devil you know may be better than the one you dont

why are seniors a priority? Children yes but everyone else should be the same. I am a senior and I am tired of hearing my fellow seniors say give me this give me this. By the way I am 81.

Thank you SENIOR SENIOR - you are the exception ...I also am a senior and I am sometimes embarrassed by the behavior of some of these 'senior folks'... Recently, the seniors at the Whittier Drive complex came up with the idea to make Whittier Drive a one way, coming from Shute St to McKinley St - but they also added a little blurb that there be no left turn onto McKinley St ... If you used Whittier Drive, you were forced to return to the light at Lynn St and Broadway...This, had it passed, would have made it a little complex just for those residents...Cute huh. They would have had their own little private area, paid for by the citizens of Everett. To me that was the height of selfishness !!! The traffic commission, thank God, saw this for what it was and voted it down.

Bullshit. There is nothing in the H1N1 vaccine that isn't in the seasonal flu vaccine except for the H1N1 virus itself. The flu vaccine is one of the safest-if not the safest-vaccines in the world.

Thanks Jeffrey....I had no idea that I would upset Book Reader soooo much. Apparently he hasnt "Read" some of the news reports on the H1N1 vaccine....and having the disease in the vaccine is exactly my point...the seasonal flu has not killed thousands of ppl this year all over the world, but H1N1 has...it is not to be trusted...I will take my chances without it.

it can't be that safe if it has trace amounts of mercury in it -___-

There's probably more mercury in tuna but they still sell it. The trace amount of thimerosol (25 micrograms) in the vaccine is used to prevent bacterial growth in the vials after multiple draws from syringes. Would you rather a nasty infection from bacteria than 25 micrograms of thimerosol in your system that probably doesn't do anything? Thimerosol has been taken out of all childhood vaccines, yet the rate of autism and other neurological/cognitive disorders is still rising, even in kids who are not vaccinated at all.

I agree with working mom and book reader about the vaccine. But if you're really worried about the mercury you can skip it:

There is no evidence that thimerosal (a mercury preservative in vaccine that comes in multi-dose vials) is harmful to a pregnant woman or a fetus. However, because some women are concerned about thimerosal during pregnancy, vaccine companies are making preservative-free seasonal flu vaccine and 2009 H1N1 flu vaccine in single-dose syringes for pregnant women and small children. CDC advises pregnant women to get flu shots either with or without thimerosal.

This is from the CDC -- http://www.cdc.gov/H1N1flu/vaccination/pregna...
