Crimson Tide A Squad Wins 2012 Pop Warner Super Bowl

After defeating the Portsmouth(R.I.) Patriots for the New England Championship, the Crimson Tide A squad traveled to Disneyland’s’ Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Fla. to contend for a national title. Everett’s first game was against the Chicago Jokers. This Chicago team was the biggest team the Tide had seen all year and initially had trouble moving the ball on offense. The defense remained stout, however, and it was only a matter of time before the offense caught fire. Running a no huddle offense wore down the huge Chicago defensive players and Everett running backs Roberto Michel, Dylan Cyprian, Renzo Marins, and LJ LaMonica began finding running lanes and ripped off huge gains. Quarterback Jordan McAfee also had a great day in the spread read option offense.
Everett’s’ defense got better and better throughout the playoffs and played their best ball in Fla. Although the team let up 19 points in Florida, those points were scored on fumble returns and a kick return. The actual defense did not let up a single point. The defense is led by middle linebacker Ricky Tavares and made up of Lesley Lamothe, Roberto Michel-who had an interception, Renzo Marins-interception, Jeff Pham, LJ LaMonica, Dylan Cyprian-who has become a shutdown corner, Eddie Owour, Raphael Machado, Leo Paul, and Taje Vozzela. The final score was Everett 24-Chicago13.
The Super Bowl final was against the Douglas(Ca.) Tigers. This game was all Everett. The Crimson Tide jumped out to a 24-6 lead and never looked back as Michel, Cyprian, and Renzo could not be stopped. McAfee also had a nice day throwing the ball, most notably a sixty yard completion to Jonathon Noel to end the first half and an absolutely beautiful throw on a seam route to LaMonica. McAfee laid the ball in perfectly behind the linebacker and in front of the safety. Placekicker Lucas DaSilva, an unsung hero of the team, was 6 for 7 in extra point attempts in Fla.and had two successful onside kicks. Final score was Everett37-Douglas Tigers6.
At the post game pool party, the players gave Renzo Marins the MVP chant. While we don’t single out any one player as “most valuable” in Pop Warner, Renzo was an absolute beast on the Tide playoff run. Just when you thought he couldn’t play any better, he’d come out and run for 300 yards, like he did against Portsmouth. Or he’d run through three tacklers, spin, lose his balance but catch himself, and go for forty yards, like he did against Chicago. Or, as a blocking back, he’d blow up a linebacker as McAfee ripped off a touchdown run. No there are no MVP’s in Pop Warner but Renzo came as close as a kid could come.
The 2012 Super Bowl Champion Crimson Tide A squad:
Delrique Richardson, Eddie Owour, Leo Paul, Ricky Tavares, Joel Perez, Raphael Machado, Jonathon Noel, Dylan Cyprian, Jeff Pham, Renzo Marins, Jean St. Vil, LJ LaMonica, Roberto Michel, DeMarco Durham, Mike Smith, Sal DiPierro, Eric Barros, Charles Santos, Jonthon Jean, Taje Vozzella, Lucas DaSilva, Lesley LaMothe, Hermon Sharif, and Jordan McAfee

The boys should have never have went to Florida, if the A team went why not the E-team. There was actually a real super bowl for the E-team. The Patriot team was a couple of exhibition games. There were only 3 teams in the division including the Tide. It takes 8 teams to compete for a national title. They did not even have a bracket for the division. It was a waste of the organizations money to send that team down and take money away from teams that were actually competing for a National Title. I like the Patriot team and am very proud of their accomplishments, but do not agree with them going to Florida at he expense of the organization for exhibition games.
