Did anybody go to the unveiling of the fountain? Did the Mayor provide soap?

I would have gone if it was solely to commemorate and remember the 9/11 victims. I didn't go because I knew it was going to be an event to honor Carlo and his creation of the beautiful fountain. It should have been done right after 9/11, not in 2012. And I think a simple plaque would have sufficed.

There was already a small 9/11 monument and plaque on the Parlin Library grounds.

TO: I MISS THE OLD EVERETT - Ya got that right !!!! I felt the same and did not attend.....Actually we watched ch 2 (I think it was ch 2). Heart wrenching to watch it all again -- however, we must not forget 9/11 and the suffering by 3,000 people (not all Americans by the way)-- just people going to work on a beautiful September day...It did focus on NY and the towers...but we must not forget (ever) the field in PA or the Pentagon devastation. This day is not about politics, imported marble and the like ... To me, it is a sacred day and one for prayer and reflection.

The original 911 plaque, in rememberance of the Trentini's- Everett residents who were on one of the planes, is practically hidden behind one of the hedges. This should have been given a place of honor. The fountain looks totally out of place.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. How long will it take before the fountain gets destroyed by graffiti or something else?

That fountain should not even be there. It's a waste of money, time, and energy. All so the fat ass Mayor can look back years from now and say I built that fountain look at me aren't I just great. Just a hint Mr. Mayor you are a F@%#King dope plain and simple. Emphasize the SIMPLE part.

It's the "something else" that concerns me.

It is a shame that with the amount of donations received for the 9/11 memorial fund that it could not have been put to better use than the fountain aka "bird bath". Several scholorships could have been giving in memory of 9/11 and the Trentinis. This is what happens when their are too many "yes men" agreeing with the mayors decisions. Even the new home of the old soldier monument looks out of place there on that small strip of land. Who is going to come to visit this? Meanwhile another long time buisness is leaving Everett Square. I don't think the mayor has his prioritys straight.

Carlo will come and visit it if his name gets put on it even though he is not the one who paid for it.

I looked at it today. There is a plaque with Carlo's name on the top with a list of donors including Carlo's parent's names. What does this have to do with 911? BTW, that fountain is very ugly. This guy not only wastes money but he has no taste.

I think the fountain looks cheap and tacky and the memory of the victims from 9/11 would have been better served in a more traditional and modern looking monument. How about a granite waterfall designed after the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC. This thing they have looks like it was taken directly from Italy. Figures!

I couldn't agree more. This fountain looks like it should be in the front yard of the house on Bucknam street along with the ceramic horse. UGLY!

I think Carlo was trying to recreate the Italian fountains in Rome. I haven't seen it yet but the word "tacky" in a previous post makes it not seem worth it. Especially if kids are using it for a swimming pool with their bare feet. How many of Everett's drunks will be taking the coins for booze money and then bathing in it?

As many ppl have said over the past several months, that "memorial" is nothing more than a bath tub for bums and a large urinal! Or some kid doing something silly, like trying to balance on it, s going to slip and crack their head open..what's Mr Mayor gonna do then?? Is the city protected from being sued? BTW..from the sounds of it, ot Italian mayor is givingthe rest of us Italians a bad rap! And agree 150% that instead of a "pee bath" the funds SHOULD have gone to a scholar ship. I believe the Trentini's were at one time teacher's so it would have made sense to give a scholarship in their memory

C'mon be serious how could the mayor possibly attach his name to a memorial scholarship? Agree 1000% a scholarship would have been better suited.
