Notice came with bill this week - another increase in our cable rates !!
No need for cable raise

You can all thank our last elected officials for that 10 yr contract (the Ragguci regime). And also our current Mayor and the idiot people we have up there in city hall that take up nothing but space on Monday nights for not talking to Comcast and asking them why every year we get this raise and no new improvements. Only thing new would be taking channels away from us and re channeling the lineup list. That's all i see and we gotta pay more for this bull crap. Like I stated our people up city hall can never talk about the right thing at meetings, Comcast is never brought up for all the raises every year.

From me to all you city hall slackers the majority of you all suck and the BIG ONE also.

It is about time we had an alternative cable company in this city. I am appalled by another increase.

you want a new cable company the people with comcast tell mayor wideload if we dont get a freeze on rate or new cable company we will vote dwn his casino now the time to get what. Make your voice heard now or forget it .

Seems to me that if Comcast has this city sowed up, they can charged just about anything they damn well please.

Not sure, but aren't they regulated like all other utilities and need approval to raise costs?

Competition is good forthe consumer!

I just asked them how I can get rid of all of the Spanish speaking channels. Answer, SORRY,you can't.

It's ok with me that they offer alternative languages, but I don't need or want them.

By the way, my daughter had FIOS and she had nothing but complaints. I was there when she was on hold, while trying to get her alarm fixed, for TWO HOURS. She asked to speak with a supervisor and their respons was, "Supervisors don't speak with customers."

To Lifelong Everett Resident: I, too, have been disgusted that some of my cable bill goes to Spanish speaking channels - and there is no way to have it taken off the 'bundle' of the programs !!! So we are paying for channels we cannot comprehend the language....I was told that 'they'(Spanish speaking people) likewise have to pay for English speaking channels they don't understand !!!! Well last time I looked around, I was still in the USA ... You came here, you must have been aware that English is the primary language (or was until about 10 years ago)...learn to speak English - I am not going to learn Spanish or any other language as I have no intention of visiting any countries you people flee from....

Comcast should give non-English speaking people, their own 'bundle' and free up those channels that we are paying for but not using !!!

Substitute something out of the bundle for us and we'll all be happy (or at least a little bit happier than we are now !!!)...

I've been thinking about cancelling my home phone service from comcast, as it is now I pay 150.00 every month for basic cable, computer and phone! funny there is never anything on tv but always plenty of spanish channels!

I told Comcast that I didn't mind that people have spanish channels. I don't care if the in Italian, Russian or any other non English language. Give me the opportunity to have a bundle with just English channels. I also told them to stop telling me how many channels I had, the spanish channels absolutely useless to me. I told them that I didn't want to pay for them.

I called Comcast a few weeks ago because my rate went up too. I signed a two-year contract and called to see if my contract was up. They gave me a temporary deal for one year which I am very happy with. I plan to call them in one year and change it again. They said they don't have two-year contracts anymore. When is the Comcast 10-year contract with the city expiring? Heard Fios is not that great.

What about these double poles? Isn't that a cable company? Why are these metal rod things on top of the poles? When are they going to get rid of these double poles. They've been around for a few years.

We all need to call a city council man/woman and have them look into this Comcast raise we get every year. I think the contract should be up this yr or next year. This is one company that has taken the surrounding towns to the cleaners because all the idiots who represent us in our town halls don't do crap in regards. They are there to talk about raising our water bills, tax bills, street sweeping tickets, and anything else that will make money for the city on behalf of the taxpayers. When will the people who represent us say no no no to raise after raise after raise?

This city sucks and it got that way from the City Hall idiots that work there. Including the big fat one.

I know somewone who is stealing it right here in Everett from his father house, comcast did nothing about it after I called them. so they as long as they get their money they don't care.

Called Verizon about an issue with my internet connection and found out I was talking to someone in the Philippines. It was during regular business hours too. I'm disgusted to be honest. No one in the US to do those jobs? But I digress...I asked if I could get rid of those nonsense (in my opinion) music channels and was told I couldn't because they are part of the "package". Are you kidding me???
I pay about $140/month for cable and I can't pick what effin channels I don't want???

I know, we pay but THEY pick what channels THEY will 'pkg' or bundle for us !!! So if you go through your 'pkg', out of xxx number of channels they have in the 'pkg' perhaps you can only use xx number - you end up paying a high price for something you don't want....They need some good competition to end this practice....and probably whatever company gets in, no, absolutely no, long-term contracts !!!! Three to five years and if all is well at the end of the contract, we can just sign on again....Sort of a 'term limits pkg' for cable companies...

Hanlon signed the 10 year contract with Comcast when he took office. So, there's two more years after this one.

But the contract has been looked at and it is supposedly not exclusive. FIOS just isn't interested in making the infrastructure investment necessary of offer their product here.

I have no idea what happened to the petition that the city was considering making to the FCC to control cable costs. But that was only going to control the cost of the most basic of plans and the rest of us would probably be picking up the cost of that.
