the naloxone portion of suboxone causes many birth defects, if she HAS to have that stuff, she should be on subutex not suboxone. but for the childs sake deal with being sick for 2-3 days and save that babys life and suck it up and just quit. if your dumb enough to get pregnant while in so called "recovery". not saying anything bad about suboxone, it has helped lots of people when the doctor does it right and tapers you off of it in a decent amount of time, these people getting 3+ a day for more than 6months are in it to get high and/or make money, and so are the doctors.

well maybe it isn't myy business, but I just hate that a innocent child has to suffer from stuip choices in its parents life. I think the dr. prescribes the subutex, but i know that she has been out looking for suboxone to buy and i am worried about the baby not the girl.

I'm glad to see there are sooo many concerned citizens these days. And that on top of that most of them seems to have everything from a PHD to a license in physiocology. Or at least you would think they do because of the remarks they make and the advice they try to give. Good thing most of us know they're really just a bunch of busy boied know it alls that have nothing better to do than tell tales and set back and pass judgement on everyone else. It's not good for a woman to take anything while she is pregnant. Common sense tells that. But when it comes to pregnancy and addiction even an OB will tell you that it is in fact much safer for both the mother and the baby if the mother stays on a maintenance drug and off the streets. Going thru withdrawal can cause a women to miscarry or even cause the baby to pass meconium into the amnio fluid which can lead to some serious problems. And that's only to name a few. In a perfect world no woman would take drugs or anything else during her pregnancy nor would any babies be born and have to chance facing withdrawal or any other illness. But unfortunately we don't live in perfect world and I would much rather see a women get help, stay off the streets and take better care of herself and her baby. Taking Subutex may not be the best thing a mother can do for her baby but it's alot better than her being on the streets the whole time. If people would spend as much time on their own lives as they do in other ppls everyone would be alot better off. Oh, and if your so concerned about that poor baby...can you tell us even on thing that you've done towards helping it other than getting on here with this crap? Bet you wouldn't as much as buy a pack of diapers or a $1 bottle for it's milk to go in. But you'd sure a hell talk about it's mommy like a dog. Who are you really trying to convince you want to help it anyway..us or yourself.

i agree. but y would some one even make a topic like this?? give women some credit, at least they r trying and not strung out on anything they can get there hands on!!!and it has been studied and it is safe for both mother and child. it is way better then methadone. when women get preg. there drug problem don't go away,so i am really pleased that there is something out there to help them!!!!

my daughter did sub while pregnant with her last child... we thought everything was fine, however, shortly after her birth, she was transported to kingsport, where she stayed 3 weeks. they slowly brought her from morphine, to a weaker drug, until she was completely detoxed. my daughter didnt get in trouble because the dc told her it was perfectly safe for her to use sub... im a recovering adddict, who beleives the only way is no drugs AT ALL. i was put in the hospital when i was pregnant and slowly taken off of all drugs... it worked for me. addiction is a real, tragic thing.. downing anyone is not the answer... suboxone is a drug too.. a legal one. i love it, but hate it at the same time.. to the one who started this thread.... detox, at a slow rate is much safer. only in a hospital setting... its worth it though. good luck, and peace!

Even if she was put in the hospiatl they would put her on subutex cause it`s not safe to be detoxing while prego and I know they would have to give her some thing!

They give them the subutex, they little white ones instead of suboxone if you are pregnant. I work at a suboxone clinic in kingsport.
