I get f.s. and I need them. Mine are getting cut. To all you people who put down pple that are on assistance; I can't wait till you need assistance of some kind. Alot of employers are going to turn full time employees into part time because of obama care. I can't believe how many people act like f.s. are breaking the piggy bank.don't any of you look at all the other worthless spending the gov spends? Are you going to insult pple on medicaid next? There are more pple than jobs!!!! You all might want to open your eyes and look at it from all sides instead of just " get a job".
There are many jobs out there and few applicants. You are wrong about there not being enough jobs. The company where I work is always hiring. I work near Toyota and all of their subsidiaries have now hiring signs out. They can't find enough people to fill positions. You must be a shut in or something. I will admit that in some parts of the country there may be places that have a limited job market. Two part time jobs equal one full time one. I have never needed assistance. You can do it, but the system fails people who try.

I go to school full time, I work full time, & I have been & still am raising a 2 year old child on my own with NO child support, NO help from anyone.. I've worked for everything I have right now, and I'm working to get back what I've put in, & since I have no help from anyone else, I get food stamps for my daughter & I, because having a full time job and going to school full time, still doesn't cut it all the way.. There are SOME people out there that actually need the help & don't just do this for petty, and it's pretty insulting seeing and hearing different people get on here talking about how they think "most" people abuse it. Don't get me wrong, some do, but, MOST do it because they NEED it not because they're abusing it!

Well, to the above poster... Your planning was all jacked up. Why have a child before u were ready? I commend you for attempting to better yourself, but we all know food stamp money comes from taxes, I pay taxes, so I ask you "what makes you think I should be responsible for paying to feed you and your child"? Your irredponsibility isn't an excuse. Plesse enlighten me on your opinion. I don't see where your lack of responsibility should fsll on the populations backs..

You are an exception. I work where we get tax incentives to hire welfare recipients. Unfortunately none of them usually make it past the deadline. I worked with a lady who had 5 kids and one on the way. They got 1,200 in fs every month. How would they ever be able to get off assistance? This story is the one that angers tax payers, not the one where someone is trying to better themselves. Last time I checked in with her, neither one of them was working, but they are driving a car better than mine and I work 40+hrs a week. Why shouldn't I be upset?

I am on food stamps. I became too ill and disabled to work any longer a few years ago. I live in abject poverty and am on a medically necessary diet, which means it is more expensive and has things that one cannot get at a food bank. Therefore I eat only one meal a day at most. On other days I have a single slice of peanutbutter toast. I have lost several pounds since the cut on November 1st, and cannot afford to lose much more. I don't know how much they are being cut on January 1st but I am terrified. Btw, there are lots of us who cannot work on food stamps. People who say we have "no right to eat" really need to find themselves on hard times. And to the idiots telling people not to have children if they can't afford them: circumstances change throughout life. It is the one constant, in fact. When I had my child we could afford it. Then my husband became violent and we had to leave. As a woman, I stood to receive less pay for equal work. My ex was so abusive he worked under the table so child support couldn't be garnished. If you think it was easy to do all by myself you are NUTS. Daycare was as high as my rent and I was always behind. Circumstances change. I can't believe how many cruel and selfish people are commenting on here that basically poverty and starvation would serve us right for being so....suddenly needy.

My mosy sincere apologies to you for youf situation. I hate to hear that people struggle in such a way as you are. I can empathize with you because my mother, a single mother, struggle to raise two kids, with health problems of her own. the things I say in these posts are not directed towards truly needed people, who are physically capable of working but choose too leech off the rest of society. by taking from the system, those leeches are the reason the amount you get is so low. I have always tried to differentiate between the truly needy and the ones that are too lazy to get a job and pay their own way.
