He's only 5 months old. If you make a big deal out of it, he's getting attention. If he's laughing, it's probably because someone has laughed at the behavior & he's trying to get you to laugh. Sometimes if you can ignore it, they'll quit because they don't get that attention anymore.

It isnt the act of him spitting at someone it is just spitting itself that he thinks is funny. He doesn't know that he is spittingv on someone or what it even means. He is only 5 months old. Smdh.

It is also a way they learn how to use their mouth. U dont want him to think he is being bad or stop using his mouth. Learning to talk is one of the best things ever to see as yours grows up. Now when he is two or older then you have a problem, maybe, but he is only 5 months old .

At 5 months they are just learning to use their mouth other than eating, so don't be so hard on the little guy when they're 2 is when they're doing it purposely, he's not spitting to be a brat Lol, way too young for that, he's just Gibson's out how to do things so he's proud of himself, ease up hunny, he'll be a wet monster for the next year, alienating everywhere Lol

Random advice: teach your child a few signs so they can communicate with you before they are able to actually speak. My brother and his wife taught my nephew some simple signs and by three weeks (yes, weeks!), he was signing "milk" and "diaper". If they want something, they will let you know.

At five months, my nephew was all about ceiling fans and lights and knew both of the signs. Teach them as much a possible as early as possible!:)

Let me know if you figure it out. My 25 year old girlfriend spits also. I have been trying to correct her but she isn't getting it.

im 20 and I spit..not on purpose..from playing softball and having to wear mouth guards is when I started because of dirt and dust..but my little man would spit for attention..after awhile he found out something else he could do and spitting was old news..its just a phase..it means they're growing up and learning..dont blink by the time you realize it hell be walking and running..time does fly!

My daughter went through a stage like this. It didn't last long! I told her no everytime and she eventually stopped and hasn't done it since! Babies are so funny! I love them :)
