Not sure if any of you have heard of this. Basically there are people posting online that they (or their uncle, brother or play cousin) work at walmart in the money department or sometimes they say Walgreens. They claim that they can add a zero to whatever you put on the moneypak. Say you put $200 they say they can make it $2000,$500 to $5000 and so on. You just pay them $500. This is an obvious scam but some people are falling for it. They will tell you that they only need the number and you have to activate it. What they really do is load it to their debit cards and disappear. They prey on people because times are hard and people are desperate. Think logically, why would greendot allow this to go on? They'd be losing millions if it were the case. Also, if they can do that why not just take your own money and repeatedly flip it. Why settle for a $500 cut if you can take a few hundred and make thousands? These people advertise on Facebook, twitter and instagram. If you see it it is definitely a scam so be careful.

This is a scam too, here goes. The people call a place that has prepaid cards and says they are an employee from another store or in management. Sometimes they have a familiar name. They tell you they are stranded on the side of the road and the tow truck driver needs x amount of money. They will say anything like their mother is in the hospital or they've been in an accident, etc. They ask you to activate a card for $200-$500 and read them the numbers. They say someone will reimburse you from the main office or their family member is on the way to pay. After you read them the numbers, you will be fired and they will have the $. Don't ever activate a prepaid card over the phone. It's a scam.

Thank you! I've been seeing this all over instagram turn 200 to 2000 dollars I've researched and they will tell you to go buy a Greenpak card load it with a minimum amount of say 200 you call them and they ask for your scratch off number and they transfer your 200 into their personal account.

I'm glad I read this. I was desperate for help with the rent & I contacted someone on craigslist who posted an ad, saying they could add a 0. I'm glad I didn't continue with the transaction. I haven't purchased the moneypak yet and I won't after reading this. Thank you for giving me a heads up. I think I will ask a family member to loan me the money.:)

There's an FBI computer scam going around. The FBI is aware of this scam and it is not them. Hackers gain access to your computer and seize your files. The page will say that you are being investigated for gambling, child porn, illegal downloads, etc, and the fine is x amount of $. It will tell you to go to CVS or somewhere like it and buy a prepaid card, enter the number to unfreeze your computer. DON'T do it. It's a virus and you will have to get it removed. Be careful what you click on as it finds it's way past virus control. First rule of stupidity is, the FBI will not send a message saying you are in trouble. They just show up unannounced.

Ive fell a victim to a scam similar to this. I am struggling to pay rent and behind on bills. Ive looked into getting a loan online as payday advances are outlawed in my state. They asked me to purchase a greendot money pack and give them the numbers off of it to cover a wire transfer charge. After waiting an hour for the money to go in my accout and no success i called back and they then told me they could western union the money to me but i would have to buy yet another card for $250 after already spending everything i had to buy the first one. And that it would be reimbursed with the money sent through western union and the second card would be reimbursed with a $300 ebay gift card. Needless to say i got ripped off and now am in a even bigger pinch than before. I really wished i had done more research, but thats where they get you. When your struggling and willing to do anything for help. so for anyone out there trying to get a loan. Never trust any company who has a team of people with names that only a blue eyed blonde boy would have that sound like theyre are members of Al Qida.

It's a virus and it has to be removed by Iphone Todd or some other virus removal expert. You cannot remove it yourself unless you have the original disks that came with your computer to wipe it clean. Good luck. It cost me 180 bucks to get it out of mine.

A Justin Hall, claiming to be a Federal Officer, tried scamming $2,700.00 from my Mom today. He claimed she had 3 arrest warrants out and that the police will arrive within 40 minutes if we did not pay the money. The warrants were based on unfiled IRS forms from 3 years ago (bogus). He directed me to hold the phone line and go to my bank, withdraw the money, go to Walmart, put the money on Money Pak cards, then he asked me to scratch off the cards and give him the number. At first I was falling for the scam, following his command, then the more I thought about it, the more I began to realize that the IRS would never ask for money via Money PAK. I gave him the wrong numbers off the cards. Hung up the phone. He called continuously, way past the government cut off time in Virgina of 5pm. Once he discovered that the numbers I gave were not working, he called continously, even disguising his number with my home number, making me think someone from my home was calling.
These crooks are targeting Indians, scaring them of taking their passports away, loosing their citizenship, being thrown in Jail if the money is not paid. I called Money Pak and told them of this scam. Dont fall for it. Spread the word.

Wrong, you need to go into safe mode and download two free spyware removal programs. I got it off myself in 15 minutes.
