The Grim Reapers Motorcycle Club was an outlaw motorcycle club, founded in 1967[1][2] in Calgary, Alberta, that was active during the sixties and seventies, and grew to become a dominant club in the region during the eighties and nineties.[3]

They were apparently independent of a US-based motorcycle club of the same name that was founded in 1965 in Louisville, Kentucky.[4] Along with the Rebels, the Warlords, and King's Crew, they were one of the four dominant outlaw motorcycle clubs operating in Alberta prior to 1997. In 1997, the club became part of the Hells Angels in a patch-over ceremony held in Red Deer, Alberta.[5]

In 1970, 11 members and 2 associates were sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Ronald Hartley, president of the Outcasts Motorcycle Club. After an appeal several members were released and others had their sentences reduced. Two members were eventually convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder.[6]

The Grim Reapers were listed as an "Outlaw Motorcycle Gang" by Criminal Intelligence Service Canada.[7] In 1997, primarily because of public outcry due to escalating violence in eastern Canada between the Rock Machine and the Hells Angels' Quebec chapters, the Canadian government passed Bill C-95 which amended the Criminal Code of Canada (and other legislation) to give Canadian law enforcement organizations powers similar to those provided to their American counterparts via RICO.[8]

Several former members of the Reapers, later to become members of the Hells Angels' Western Canadian chapters, were eventually successful in their challenge of charges brought against them under the new legislation as a result of events that occurred in relation to their patch-over gathering in Red Deer. In 2005, the bikers in Alberta won a major court victory when a judge ruled that police violated their constitutional rights during a roadside check in 1997.[9]

Thanks for re-posting Wikipedia, but the local reapers have nothing to do with the Canadian reapers.

What do these biker clubs do? I do not understand the concept. Don't you guys just ride bikes around? Why do you need somebody to be with you? Sounds kinda silly and childlike.

What about the MC the Lugg Nutz that started this whole post? Are they in Evansville area?
Where do all these MCs hang outside their clubs? Wanted to get to know them to see if I'd be interesting in joining since I'm new to the area.

Rasputin--- I ride my bike everyday rain snow or sleet or shine. I have not seen a Lugg Nutz patch yet. According to someone on Topix they are here.
On to what I do know. Just like many other organizations such as the elks, owls, VFW, free masons, or the Shriners. We meet up, talk and enjoy the things we share. In this case it's motorcycles. It's a brotherhood that you know if you need someone you have a brother to call on. Need help paying a bill? Call a brother. Broke down? Need gas? Call on your brother. Feeling upset over losing a friend or loved one? Call your brother. Just bored? Call your brother.
We are just a group of Friends who are there for each other who share the love of motorcycles and love the brotherhood. If you see one of us out an about don't be afraid to stop us and talk.
And the petty arguing over which club is better doesnt matter. Whether I am Defiant Crew and Joe Blow is Iron Order or just a weekend rider if we see each other stuck on the side of the road or about to fight we look past the patch and beneath it all we are all Motorcycle Riders and we will protect and help our own!
Have a great day and keep the shiny side up!

Well said Dragon...as for Curios silly and childlike? You obviously have no friends. I have friends here in random clubs as for myself I'm an independent rider, as I move I wanted to simply meet people with the same interest stop on a Sat have a cold one shoot the shot go on a ride especially being new to the area and not knowing my way around...that doesn't make someone silly or childlike get a clue and know what your talking about before you post nonsense.

You left out the part about running guns, dealing drugs, promoting prostitution, chop shops, robbery, and murder.

No one will ever convince you of you ilconceived notions. In the motorcycle world there is non-conformists, the perverbial bad egg; but please don't assume that we are all bad people. Just as in any group of people or in the case group in a larger group of people there will be negativity and illegal activity.
Many clubs do a lot of good for organizations and the communities.
Meet us and decide for yourself. Don't be bigoted and speak about us all. That only shows your ignorance on the subject

So where are these Lugg Nutz that "are on the scene"? Still haven't seen one yet in e-ville!

I've seen plenty of Iron Order, a few Reapers, a few Defiant Crew and of course plenty of Rolling Thunder but not one of the Lugg Nutz. So are they here or not?
