Dear Richard my brother. You have lied, cheated and stolen from other yet you are still my brother.

Dear brothers, others have lied and to cover up the steeling and have gained from the thefts and you are all still my brothers.

Dear brothers and sisters. I can no longer be a part of this congregation as I have not see any turn from the lies nor any remorse for what you have partaken in; but you are all sill my brothers.

Dear family; I will ind a new family and you will all still be my brothers but forgen not what has been done and what is being done which is not right in Gods eyes nor anyone eyes.

This church is no longer a church of God but yet you are all still my brothers.

Yet I may never trush you again, you will always be my brothers!

My question is, since when did they let convicted Felons teach at Mt Vernon High School?

Hello. I am the editor of the Mount Vernon Democrt. This is the first (and hopefully only) time I have ever used TOPIX. First off, there was a Richard Brown who subbed at Mount Vernon High School for 12 days in 2010. The Richard Brown that is the subject of this discussion was convicted in 2011. Also, apparently, someone is sending this link to newspaper and others using another person's e-mail. I got a call from the superintendent at another Mount Vernon school, north of Indy. Apparently, someone has hacked into their e-mails and using their addresses to send out false info that Brown taught at MVHS after convicted. (I don't have confirmation on anything from Ivy Tech yet). So someone has committed one crime - hacking into another person's email account. And on top of that, libel/slander (depending on whether written or said), stating an untruth that results in tarnishing the reputation of Brown and of school administration at Mount Vernon. As a member of the community here, I feel obligated to defend our school corp with the truth. Real news sources get facts before putting info out there. This is why I avoid TOPIX whenever possible. Thanks for your time.

The Richard Brown sentenced yesterday was convicted earlier in 2012, not 2011. It was stated at his sentencing hearing that he had subbed at MVHS in Mt. Vernon Indiana, though I don't recall a specific date. I did infer from the context at the hearing that he had subbed since his conviction earlier in 2012. as they were discussing his current employment.

Funny you would diss topix so. This has been an ongoing case with very little notice by the media at all. I suppose if the self important media did their job rather than stick their collective noses in the air, sites like topix wouldn't be popular.

1. You are right. He was charged in 2011.

2. The reason sites like Topix are so popular is because people can say things behind the wall of anonymity and aren't held accountable for what they say. The fires of rumors get fueled. People are rarely interested in the truth, they want whatever's juicy. With that said, the internet and independent news sites and gatherers are good for our society because more info is out there, it's easy to access and more voices are heard. Good news information is not usually found on Topix. I can't speak for all media - especially national media and cable news - but most journalists I know aren't "self-important." It's just that getting it right matters to us.

Would love to see a newspaper actually do investigative reporting like they used to do. I gues with subscribers falling off all theyc an afford to do is pass on the liberal ideals.

BTW, I got 10 emails rom myself this morning selling me everything from Viagra to Canadian medicine. Do you think my email has been hacked?

It shows a school administrator weak on today’s education and understanding of modern media for sure! Can he use Microsoft word or does the secretary help with that?

As a Christian and a believed in God and Jesus Christ I am deeply offended that Richard implied yesterday he used his 'Great Faith' to reason his crimes. The embezzling of others funds and in my opinion faith, was not only done by Richard but the OHCC administration and Pastor Hopkins. These two men distributed letters to the congregation on church letter head requesting/pressuring to support a convicted felon in the regards to his sentencing. Pastor Hopkins stated in his letters that Mr. Brown was "caught up in a fallible system which puts him in a no-win situation." At this moment I see the congregation of OHCC being the fallible system for putting Pastor Hopkins in the leadership and guiding roll of the church. I would be shocked any member would continuine to attend OHCC.

The “$78,000.00 from his own pocket” stated in one of Pastor Hopkins letter was not Richard's to give. Does this not make the Church guilty as well?

As for the information about mount Vernon high school. If it was stated in court that Richard substituted in 2012 it would be the fault of the person stating this not the person hearing the information. Is it is wrong to attack a member for trying to keep others informed when you can't even get your convection dates correct? I can't speak for other Christians but " It's just that getting it right matters to us." No one was attacking your school system just trying to process the facts.

You were contacted and the email did not check out? Instead of investigative reporting you come here and slam those asking for real news reporting? You slam those giving you the tips?
Instead of complaining about no one doing quality reporting anymore, why don't you go out and do some quality reporting!

Yesterday certainly painted a different picture than the picture the letter painted. The lies in the letter held no water against the massive amount of proof yesterday. I think both of them (Brown and Hopkins) need tossed out of the church. Won't stick around to wait for it.

You have a Mt Vernon Man, an Embezzeler who embezels close to a million dollars convicted of multiple crimes, sentenced to 5 years (likelly a higher sentence servied at the same time), who has jobs in the public and the public want's to know when and where.

The public would also like to know if he has been teaching as a fellon, the public would like to know the details of the pastor who was grilled on the stand and his involvement in possibly funneling money to the church.

INSTEAD I look this morning and you can't even report there is a Mt Vernon Man who is sentienced in a felony conviction to 5 years in prison.

INSTEAD of reporting you go after your tipsters in a public forum and even the "Facts" YOU list are wrong and possibly liable to the TIPSTER!

The Mt Vernon Democrat is NOT a news organization any more then Oak Hill Christian Church is a reputable or honorable church of God!

And BTW, NO I don't want to join you on FACEBOOK!! LOL
