I am thinking about getting the Mirena but I have read some bad things about it. Does anyone have it? Do you like it?

I had it.
The PROs: No pregnancy for 5 years, not having to take a pill every day or get a shot.
The CONs: a yeast infection almost weekly, a couple of my BIG partners said they could feel the string while inside of me, and it made me moody.

I just had mine removed because of all the problems it caused. I had mine in for 4 years and it was horrible. I lost a lot of hair, had bv or uti or yeast infection almost monthly. It hurt bad to have sex, I was super moody and my sex drive was super poop. I've had it out about a month and every problem I just named has improved dramatically. My sister has had it in for all 5 years and she says she hasn't had any problems.

when i had mine, it caused me nothing but problems.. I bled for 3 months straight, a few days out of every month, i would get pains so bad, it knocked me to my knees, sex was VERY painful, & I got pregnant with it 9 months after i had my 1st child.

if u want long-lasting birth control, get implanon.

Adverse Event Report referred to about 45,000 complaints about Mirena since June 2012. Most of the complaints centered on three serious side effects: device expulsion, dislocation, and excessive vaginal bleeding. About six percent of those women who complained required inpatient surgery to treat the errant IUD. You may also refer at http://www.mirenalawsuit.us/ for more information.

Have you tried depo before? Hormone in Mirena same as depo. If depo gave you side effects, don't do the Mirena.

Are you just looking for temporary birth control? If you want long-term, try Essure.

Deff not true for all. I had horrible side effects from depo but I love the mirena. No crazy mood swings or anything.

I have had the mirena for a little over 5 years and actually went last Friday to get it replaced. No problems, no worries!!! Just check the string every month to make sure it is still in place! As with any birth control there are risks! Talk to your GYN about what is best for you.
