Thank you for that informational follow up article Mark.

I happened upon the accident minutes after it happened. The dusky street was lit with blinking emergency lights from the many police cars. Onlookers lined the street. The paramedics were busy at their truck. The Harley was laying in the Grand Avenue south lane with its headlight still on. The forks were gone.

Motorcycle riding is dangerous business. The streets are not like thirty years ago when I could count at any given time no more than four cars at the Mannheim and Grand intersection when the light was red.

It only takes a few cars to put a cyclist's road perceptions into circuit overload. Riding a motorcycle is not even fun when one is put into that position. How does a cyclist perceive a person on a cell phone or blackberry?

Grand Avenue from Mannheim east to 25th is dangerous. Many strip malls and more cars exiting without warning. If a car pulls out quickly from a blind corner a driver might not be able to react in time. Cyclists will find these conditions in hundreds of other communities.

We hope Michael will recover from the coma. We send our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Michael.

Thank you so much we really appreciate it and we pray everyday for him to get better and heal. The doctors had done surgery after surgery and the one time he had a fever and they decided to do another which in the end left him brain dead.

Everyone is acting like this guy is a saint. He wasn't at all. He was a jerk behind belief. He was on his cellphone while speeding on his motorcycle. I feel bad what happened to him but I also think the way his family judges people and the way he was it camr back as karma. I only hope when he dies he can rest in peace. All the people he did things to hopefully won't haunt him in death. I personally think he has suffered enough. They have him on life support. How sad. He's brain dead. He's dead time to pull the plug. But good riddens. Hopefully the family will learn from this and start living thier lifes a little different . Money isn't everything. Being mean and judgemental isn't cool either. Just a f.y.i. your family isn't that geeat. What have they really accomplished for you to judge others. NOTHING. You need to all get iver yourself and hopefully be better people.

I've personally seen old woman texting on Mannheim with their heads completely buried into the phones. I rode for seventeen years and was rear ended by a girl texting in villa park, after that I just bought a sports car and never rode again. It used to be that if you were a good rider that expected morons you'd be ok, nowadays it's just suicide. People who text and drive should lose their license for six months or something drastic, I'm a phone junky personally, but I never text and drive, it's UNREAL how unsafe it is today.

Apparently You didn't know him. I would hope that you're family would never have to endure the pain and suffering that our family has, you say good riddens ? I would like to meet you face to face and have you repeat that to me. Let me know when you would like to meet.

My uncle was a great guy I don't know who you think you are. But he was at a red light and when the light turned green he went safely but some idiotic teenager ran a red light and knocked him off his bike and he landed pretty far. His leg was amputated and the rushed into an emergency surgery so he wouldn't have to loose his arm. The doctors did soothing wrong which left him brain dead. Not a day goes by that i wish none of this had happened. We think about him every day of our fucking lifes. I pray to God to help him either to bring him back to us with all of his memories or to let him die peacefully. Our family loves him and we don't want this life for him. How would you like it if soemone you loved deeply about was in his shoes. Life is really hard for his parents. Just don't go assuming that you know his whole life story because you don't. I miss him so much you have no idea. I sit and wonder how different my life would be if he was at our house everyday for the past 7 years like he used to do. How many pizza would we have made together? would he be proud to see how far I've come? Would he have come to everyone of my piano recitals? Would he have married my aunt that he loved deeply? Don't take your life for granted and spend as much time as you possibly can with the ones you love you never know when it will be the last time you see them.

Katrina, your right! BOTH brothers violently attacked my brother in high school because he didn't look or act like them! They've always been trouble and Its not karma that did him in, it was his stupidity. How the fuck could you be texting on a motorcycle and think you'll be alright?? The brothers were bullies, plain and simple, but Im sorry this happened to him.

How is it okay for you to talk bad about my cousin who is in a coma and you think that we won't defend him? He would honestly say "guys stop. It's not worth it." And just laugh it off. But honestly how are you guys okay with going on this page and saying "just pull the plug"? Do you guys have a heart? I honestly and truely hope that you never have to go through what we have gone through for almost 7 years and still have to go through it after that. I'll pray for all you guys.

My brother knew him and said he was a good guy. He also knew his brother and father. When people say that karma is what goes around comes around...then it must be true. The stories I heard would make you sick. It is truly a shame that a good guy had to suffer for the sins of the family. He says the wrong brother got hit. Praying for this dude either way.

First of all lets start of with facts Michael was not texting the person that hit him was.
Katrina, I'm not sure how you knew Michael, but the Michael i knew was an excellent human being, he was kind, loving, understanding, comforting, funny, hard working man, and most of all he was my family not by blood but by pure fact that i have known him, his parents and his brother for 22 years, and honestly I have never heard anything bad about him.
You talk about karma let me tell you about karma, he is now in heaven partying it up, happy, and you are still here with your miserable self, trolling peoples pages wishing them death. Its people like you that should get the plug pulled, you poor miserable excuse of a human being. I feel sorry for you, and hope that you get that head checked.
