A group of friends and I are headed out there to visit the Hotel. Heard that it is quite haunted and wanted a locals take on it. Has anyone ever encoutered anything like that there? Also, any suggestions on other places to visit while in the area.

yes, see it before they ruin it with condos for blue hairs. It was so beautiful.....eureka allowed this property to be bought, raped, and ruined by California invaders.

I was in the Crescent lobby one night and immediately, the fireplace caught my attention. I felt as if it was a portal of some kind..one of reasons why hte place is haunted. I went over to look and on the mantle of th fireplace..I was shocked to see a creepy figure of a 'bat owl' creature! Anyone know anything about it?? I really feel creeped out by the fireplace!!

I also felt a creepy entity standing between me and the desk when I was considereing going on one of the tours...whatever it was did not want me on the tour...so I backed out!! I won't stay in that hotel, NO WAY!!! I used to be in a haunted apartment and it was NO fun, at all!

We've been several times to Eureka, and stayed up near the Crescent. My stepdaughter and I were in the bathroom off of the back hallway, and, someone came in the bathroom. We both came out and there was no one there, but,we definately heard the door open and close, and someone walking in,but they did not walk out before we came out.WE got out of there! Then a couple yrs later,a friend and I were in the same bathroom one night Thanksgiving weekend. This time we were standing in front of the sinks and someone knocked on the door and turned the doorknob although the door wasn't locked going out.We immediately went to the door and looked out,no one in the hallway. We both took off going different directions to look. Our husbands were in the main hallway where she came out,and they were standing there talking, both were surprised, you could tell they weren't lying, they had not done it.I encountered a hotel worker at the other end of the hall working, asked if someone had came past her,and she said,No,I did'nt see anyone.I asked if she had done it,and she said no,but that it had happened 2-3 times that weekend to other women.
That bathroom is haunted!

Our website has been down for a few days due to a power outage courtesy of Tropical Storm Ike. It is back up now and we would like to thank all our regular visitors for their patience.

Just curious, when did the Crecent sell?
we stayed there approximately 4 years ago, and the main complaint I had was they let cats have free reign of the hotel.
My husband is highly allergic to cats. In regards to the cat's, the staff did not inform us when we booked the rooms, nor was there any mention in their brochures.
Although my husband was not with me on this trip, I do think it's the hotel's responsibility to inform guest that there are cat's on the premise's. If my husband had been with me we would have had to look for other accommodations.

I took pictures when I went on a tour 8 years ago. Almost all of my pics did not come out of the tour, except one in the hallway downstairs that had orbs in it! Alot of pics taken there have orbs in them. All other pics taken around town came out just fine.

We did the whole "ghost tour thing" and didn't feel or see anything but the whole tour was well worth the money.

We are coming back in November and we will probably do another one. We aren't staying in the Cresent (we are staying in Treetops cottages - AWESOME). I'm not so sure staying in the hotel is worth the money.

We also paid for the ghost tour. The spookiest part is the basement. The hotel has a very interesting history.

search youtube for the crescent hotel in es. alot of pretty creepy videos. there's also a website devoted to the hotel's ghost tours. don't watch it at night if youre alone. lol
i actually stayed there when i was a teenager. this was in the mid 80's. i was there w/ my parents & grandparents. this was back before all the haunting stories. or, at least, they weren't so well advertised. anyway, my parents & grandparents went out for the afternoon/evening to do stuff up on the christ of the ozark hill. i was there alone in the "governor's suite". i cant say that anything "ghostly" happened. but, i felt really weird all night. it was just kinda creepy.

Orbs are dust particles that are picked up when you use the flash.

I've stayed there on a couple of occasions. No supernatural experiences, but I love the stately old historic hotel and found it very relaxing. The ghost tour was an interesting bit of history. Plus, best food in the state as far as I'm concerned.
