Visiting your beautiful state

My husband and I would like to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary in Eureka Springs. This is an inpromptu trip for us so we don't have a lot of time to find lodging. We would like to check in on June 18h.
We have two mini dachshunds that we would like to bring, but that's not a deal breaker for us.
Ideally we would like to find something within walking distance of the historic loop/business district. We celebrated our 25th anniversary there and and found a wonderful little cabin tucked in the hills overlooking ES. It was a short walk to some steps that led down to the historic area. This place was not listed with any of the travel sites so it was not on the web. We would like to find something away from the crowds, but close enough to walk to places to eat or shop
2nd choice would be a cabin on Beaver Lake. We're not real familiar with that area and any help from you guys would be wonderful. Any comments on Lake Lucerne? I saw a couple of cabins available on our travel dates.
Any advise on areas or places to stay would be greatly appreciated!

If you don't mind a 15 minute drive from town, Meringue Cottage is absolutely wonderful. They let me keep my two small dogs when we stayed. Very peaceful and quiet.
