His wife is a very good teacher? You must not know her very well because she is a GREAT teacher. An EXCEPTIONAL teacher. How do I know this? Two of my children were lucky enough to have her.

I want the incumbents out. They have proven their values are not up to par. They have done nothing about the nepotism. Heck, they almost seem proud of it.

Steve Holloway has a personal gain from being elected. His wife works for the district. We have that already. Time for something new. No offense to Steve because I'm sure he is a hell of a guy, we just don't need relatives anymore.
Tell me W H O either running for schoolboard or is already on the board has N O family members working for the school district?????

I would like to know if someone knows who is running or already on the BOE that DOES NOT have a family member in the district.

If someone knows the names, please list all who DO have family members working for the district and where do they work???? I know Linda Nash has 4 or 5 family members in the district but what about others???

Mark Jones. He has children in the district but no family members who work there.

Somebody help me out here but I believe he is the only member, running or current, that is not related to a working family member.

Going to be hard to be a "board of one" if this is true. Most people do not run unless they have someone involved somewhere in the district. There is a difference though in having someone who ALREADY works in the district and then getting elected to the BOE and someone who gets on the BOE and gets a relative hired because they are a board member.

Here is where my vote is going.... Mark Jones and only for a lack of a better person I guess holloway. I'd hate for the incumbents to get reflected and I'd hate for Krupa to get in, based on how screwed up city all is. He was ok with giving a settlement of 55k without blinking and eye or reading the settlement.

My vote also goes to Jones and Holloway!

Krupa also has family that works for the district, didn't you read that in the Leader?

Has Holloway been asked what he thinks the correct course of action should be if he were elected to the school board and his wife wanted to pursue a higher position within the District?

if that information is out there, I'd appreciate it if someone would please post a link to it here.

Thanks.

Per the Leader:

"Holloway: The district should change its hiring policy concerning nepotism by approving new regulations that restrict immediate family members of board members from being hired while the member is serving on the board. This regulation should not affect immediate family members who already are employed by the district when a member is elected. This regulation should not restrict individuals who wish to be employed by the district after their immediate family member is no longer a board member. Examples of immediate family members include spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. "

So how would this apply to his wife who is already an employee of the District?

Just a thought, now that Holloway has been elected--

I'm wondering how you can document this for future reference, should the need arise. Maybe a friendly congratulatory email in which you remind him of this specific promise to you?

It is documented as well as it can be considering I do not have an audio of the conversation. Look at the "NEPOTISM" thread here on Topix, page 47, dated Feb. 19th. That was the very night of the conversation and exactly what was said.

He is a credible guy and one I have no doubt would keep his word!

I will go to that thread and read it. Thank you for the directions.

I think it could be beneficial to document your conversation directly with Holloway himself because sometimes, unfortunately, people "forget" what they promised. Even for those like Mr. Holloway who intend to keep their word. It could be years from now that your conversation, the "campaign promise" he made to you, becomes relevant. Therefore, I still suggest that you confirm his statement to you in written correspondence.
