Some on the city council have announced their intent tonight to punch thru a sale of land to the Veterans Tribute wall group and claim the parcel on Church Road has been appraised at $8000. No one seems to have seen this appraisal, which raises some questions.

1. Who prepared the appraisal?

2. Is the appraiser licensed by the State of Missouri as a real estate appraiser?

3. Can someone upload a copy of the appraisal on scribd.com ?

People have seen the appraisal. The appraiser is licensed in the state of Missouri. No

Keep using variations of my name. You'll lose supporters in the end for your disrespect. Did you have the Mike Evans thread removed? Was it because he was showing your true colors and damaging your campaign? I bet so.

You won't scare or intimidate me off of here with your antics. I intend to keep pointing out your bad behavior and lack of proof of your allegations. Either put up the proof or expect to be called on the lack of.

First question not answered.

Answer to second question incomplete if appraiser is licensed ss a real estate sales agent or broker.

How unusual for the document to be unavailable.

Not a real estate agent or broker, the appraisal was performed by a professional real estate appraiser licensed with the State of Missouri.

Have any of you seen the hole the city claims has value? It's been estimated it would take 20,000 tons of material to fill it. It seems it would be a blessing to the citizens of Arnold if someone were actually willing to pay money to take it off of our hands, and even a greater blessing that someone will use it to make a memorial to the fallen veterans of our country.

The mayor claims he supports the VFW on one hand, yet plays politics in refusing to sell, or better yet, give it to them. The council has already voted 8-0 to release the property. Quit allowing the mayor to hold this up!

My god you think if they gave that boondoggle 55,000 for nothing, they could at least give the veterens 8,000.

Certainly more worthy of it and for a better cause.

Watch the video from last weeks council meeting. He hems and haws all over and even though the council pushes him, he pushes it off the table. It was voted 8-0 last year by the council to do it. The mayor is the stumbling block. He'll say whatever he thinks one wants to hear, but in reality, the one thing he does well is ride the fence and obey the attorney that runs the city.

When was that? I searched the agendas and minutes on the website and I do not see that. I think that it did not happen.

Here is what I know... I attended the council meeting last and I can assure you I'm not always a Doris fan. After hearing the discussion on the property I decided I would look into that myself. Here is what I found out.....

This information is coming from a veteran that sits on this veterans wall committee. He told me that when the committee brought this to the council, they did agree 8-0 to give the property to them. Then all the sudden the City told them, no they couldn't give it to them, that they would need to have the property appraised. So the committee hired the appraiser that does appraisals for the state. He did an 82 page report on his appraisal saying that the property was worth 8000.00. He included all kinds of information in his report and was very detailed. The committee was willing to pay the 8000.00.

Then....... All the sudden the City (Sweeney, & Counts) come back with the City had its own appraisal mad it came back with 60,000.00.???????

Now, if anyone has seen this piece of property they know this is a hole, literally.

Folks this is not about a fight between councilmen, this is about bring something very nice to the City of Arnold. Phil Amato needs to step down from his stage and get off of his tourism act and move on. Trust me, he is the back bone of all this nonsense going on. He sits quietly at the meetings but I can assure you he IS THE LEADER of this group and the others are just stupid enough to take he fall for him.

Does he really think any Veteran out there cares that people will "tour" this wall? He was grandstanding as usual.

If you don't believe me call the other folks on that committee and see for yourself.

Did the residents elect Doris to illegally give away City assets to the group of her choice. VFW or any other group - laws must be followed. Doris is trying to make this a campaign issue. It's not. It's simply following the laws - laws that she says she upholds, but obviously doesn't when it suits her needs. She is on the wall committee and the. Council. This is a conflict of interest. She should abstain.

Hey boy, the vote was originally 8-0. Why they change now?

Then the mayor asked for an appraisal. They did that. An 80 plus page appraisal. Not good enough? Why?

Then the City gets one that no one has seen, with the price jacked way the hell up. Why?

I got news for you. This isn't about nor has nothing to do with the VFW. Except it would be nice to put the wall next to it.

Do you know anyone that is on that committee? This is NOT an Arnold City committee.

As far as I'm concerned they could sell that ground for 1.00 because no one will ever want it.

Why do oh people always want to turn this around and make it a Doris issue. She merely gives her time on a committee. They are MANY on this committe. Citizen, business owners, and politicians. I bet if Phil Amato sat on it, it would be completely different.

Show us the appraisal mr. Mayor.

Monuments are good things within a city. Frankly, the city and the committee wishing to construct a monument should not be at cross purposes on the idea of constructing a monument to honor the military service of our veterans. Nevertheless, there are good ways of achieving the goal and there are better ways of achieving the goal. We should seek the better way of achieving the goal rather than cutting corners just for ego gratification.

Most monuments are constructed on government lands (federal, state or local). This occurs because you want an entity that lives in perpetuity to take responsibility for long term maintenance of the monument. Although a committee will do the fundraising to pay for the monument and help with long term maintenance, rarely does a committee live on forever. So, the discussion should consider the idea of building the monument on city property (including property not yet owned by the city).

What makes no sense at this time is why some members of the city council wish to sell or give this parcel to the tribute committee while the committee is so far short of its $500,000 goal to build the monument. Instead, the city should reach an agreement to give or sell the parcel at such time the committee has fully funded its project.

The timing of bringing this up for a vote tonight is election season antics pure and simple. The tribute committee has no immediate use for the site. This project has become a pawn in the debate about what constitutes a majority vote when there are 7 members on an 8 member council. Tonight is a tug of war between egomaniacs. One side of the debate will accuse the other side of being anti-veterans, even though there is no truth to that statement.

Responsible leadership would choose to continue working toward a solution so outstanding that everyone could unanimously and heartily support the effort to construct this well deserved monument.

Who in his right mind sells a piece of property based on an appraisal from THE BUYER?
I thought Doris claims to be a real estate expert. I wouldn't want her representing my property interests.

When the city tells them to get an appraisal and they do. That's who. Again, your going back to Doris. This has little to do with her. Jump off that wagon and open your eyes and ears. Do you know how much fill it would take to fill that hole? Read the appraisal and let me know. Then after that find the city's appraisal and let me know about it.
