my husband just graduated from the highway patrol's academy. he will attend this funeral before he starts his first day of work on the road. this is so tragic. PLEASE pay attention, slow down and move over for these men and women-all emergency workers. their job is so hard they look out for everyone else, drivers need to look out for them.

I'm Married to the sergent of Dennis's zone. I want to say it is very heart wrenching for all of them and very sad. This was completely senseless. If you have something bad to say about an officer of law, it is obvious that you are ignorant to all they do each and every single day to keep us safe and put their lives on the line for us! Slow down and OBEY the law and there would be NO PROBLEMS! My prayers to Dennis's family and friends and for the all the law enforcement officers who protect us each and every day. He will be missed!

Now I do have something to say to Chris, You are a complete fool and u sicken me. I literally feel like I'm going to be sick just knowing how ignorant and heartless u are. Dennis has family and friends- just as you do (though i don't know how). He was helping someone in need, what were u doing? What do u do on a daily basis? Break the law? Grow up! You are just sick!

Final Inspection
The Policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with You?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my Church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Cause those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep,
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand.
I've never expected or had too much.
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.
As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's Streets. You've done your time in Hell."
-Author Unknown-
Please slow down move over and PAY ATTENTION!!!! Every officer/trooper is someone's wife/husband, mother/father, daughter/son, they all have families that love them!!
**Chris-- think about what you are saying you havent been throught 1% of what these officers have done in their lives.***

R.I.P. Officer Cpl. Dennis Engelhard.

As A.M.W. states" its not how they died that makes them hero's, it's the way they lived their lives."
