Falcons blank Dukes in Bobby Goss tourney

There are 288 comments on the Eureka Times Standard story from Jun 27, 2008, titled Falcons blank Dukes in Bobby Goss tourney. In it, Eureka Times Standard reports that:

It's almost a no-win situation. When a team of older, experienced ballplayers compete against younger, developing players, it's often assumed that the older squad will win.

A great thought Ted. 1 elite team that travels and plays elite competition. 1 Falcon and 1 Giants team made up of great 15's and the remaining 16-17's. This would also help the Babe Ruth programs by having players stay put and boost up the league. Those Babe Ruth players could also form a couple of age specific teams to travel to USSSA Tourneys on the weekends for the players seeking a more competitive atmosphere.

Look back on the Humboldt Eagle's thread and this thread and you will see that these ideas have been tossed around quite a bit.

I have heard that the Falcons are in a little financial trouble as well. If both programs are actually struggling a little, maybe now is the perfect time to consolidate???

By the way the registration for my IP hider has ran out.

Make sure you mix in us Southern Humboldters down here, as we turn out some good players and have great youth teams coming up over the next few years.

Time for the elite Humboldt County kids to come together again. From South Fork to Mckinleyville its time to get together and kick butt again. The chili is heating up and looking for some hungry bellies and great stories.

I thought the Eureka American Legion Post sponsors all the county's Legion teams.
High School practice starts 3 weeks from this coming Monday.

Shouldn't you be monitoring posts for content and abuse, and then making threats about sending people to prison for child abuse?

I heard the Eureka Falcons are in tough financial straits. The NH Giants are struggling, apparently. If S. Humboldt wants in ... what's the problem?

Those 3 programs are in some trouble, so...isn't it time another group stepped in and...really, offered an alternative?

Really, there need be no concern about killing American Legion baseball. Those Legion programs are in some trouble. So...come in with a group under some affiliation and let the baseball players decide for themselves if they want to hang on with struggling Legion teams or tryout for the new county-wide team.

I think the Legion post in Fortuna funds the S.H. team...and probably the same in N.H. Mostly, I don't think American Legion has much to do with the baseball stuff on the local level...war veterans aren't being helped or hurt by the move in some areas away from Legion baseball.

American Legion baseball is, I think, the same as Little League, Connie Mack, etc. It's not some patriotic connection of baseball, apple pie and our heroic veterans (and they are heroes) who work with baseball teams.

This is where you'll see who is out for the best interests of all players, of all skill levels, and who is out to pursue their own agenda. The people who fight to keep struggling programs alive and put obstacles in the way of a new group...don't care about anyone except themselves.

Maybe we can have the games down at PALCO at the baseball field there. We can have Dennis Wood throw out the first pitch.

Yup. All five people: Ted, the guy in Vancouver, Eric Nelson, and the other girl who calls herself Chuck Sonnenberg-Parent-Palco-Board Member.
All good in this "I hate Jim Pastori" thread. All looking out for the kids.
Mr Apple Seed it seems that Karma has landed on your shoulder. After months of absolutely bashing others on multiple threads under assumed aliases (and a Dutch Flat isp), it seems that Chuck Sonnenberg (Chapple Seedenberg) has not only figured out who you are, but who your son is and where he plays (another thread). Itís unfortunate that your vicious diatribes against Palco, Ferndale, Fortuna Football, Ted, Jim Pastori, etc., has ultimately placed your son in the cross hairs. What I canít understand is why you would risk his anonymity by recklessly emasculating others. There are some who would think that turn about is fair play. I just think its sad youíve put your son is such a bad position. Chuck, Iíd like to appeal to your sense of reason and ask that you donít name names; keep the young man out of this. Apple Seed, I think a long list of apologies is in order. Letís hope that others donít find out who you are. Good Luck.

I'm told that Jim Pastori's managing the Dukes again this season. Pretty reliable source.

Also heard that Eureka High's looking for another new head baseball coach. Did they hire someone to replace Matthew Pidgeon, then lose the new hire?

I want to make it clear...I don't know Jim Pastori. I'm just sharing what I learned...he's apparently running the Dukes again...so, parents who do have problems with how the team was run a year ago should ... probably hurry to create another place for their kids to play or try to talk out their problems.

An entire off-season and...nothing changed.

Seems a few people chirp about Jim and the Dukes yet no one rises up and does anything about it. Its a shame that no one has guts enough to confront him or finds out when the next board meeting is and does something about it.
Typical.
and what makes you think nobody has confronted him? that's right you don't know what your talking about so sit down shut up. pastori couldn't get a job coaching tee ball after his stunt last year. HE IS A JOKE in the baseball world here in Humboldt. Maybe if he were to move out of the area he could get a job coaching until they find out what he's all about after his first game.

this is where jim pastori falls into play... he is not out for the best interest of ALL players but, he is out for to pursue his OWN AGENDA. But, that did BACKFIRE on him last year when he made a laughing stock out of himself. Watching what that guy did to the Duke's was enough to make anybody mad. The guy is a A-1 JERK and he proved it to the whold baseball community. I sure hope the legion board has made some necessary changes for this year in order to see the Dukes program thrive once again. I know for sure lot's if not ALL the players last year won't even consider playing for the Dukes if pastori has ANYTHING to do with it. Well, maybe one (whom wouldn't have a choice..his own kid). then he could play all the positions like his daddy thinks he should because there would be nobody else on the team, what a great concept.

Let Todd Zeigler run the team. CR sure thinks he is a swell interim coach. If anyone knows how to make a program turn to crap, Z is your guy.

What happened to MATT?
And what's up with bringing back everybody's favorite Eagle, ol Buster Pidgeon??
He'd get it done. He'd have the help of his trusty sidekick, Craig Apo, wouldn't he?
